TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn tennis team fell in the MIAA Tournament Finals to Southwest Baptist 5-1 ending the Ichabods' two-year reign as tournament champions at Kossover Tennis Center in Topeka. The Ichabods will now await their NCAA Postseason fate as the regional pairings will be announced next week.

The Ichabods were down 2-1 after doubles play as the No. 3 team of Drew Hanson and Ryan Ward picked up the lone win after topping SBU's Micha AuBuchon and Agustin Mollar 8-1. The Ichabods' duo of Andrew Plum and Rutger Vliegenberg fell in a heartbreaking tie-breaker 10-8 at No. 1 and Brad Johnston and Nathan Martin fell 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.

SBU wrapped up the match with victories at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 doubles to wrap up their 14th MIAA championship and their first since 2005.
