TOPEKA, Kan. -- The No. 24 ranked Washburn Ichabod tennis team knocked off Benedictine 6-2 in a match moved indoors to the Topeka Country Club. Washburn will be back in action on Saturday at the Washburn tennis courts against Southwest Baptist in their first MIAA match of the season.
The Ichabods were up 2-1 after doubles play after taking wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Rutger Vliegenberg and
Andrew Plum took an 8-3 win at the top doubles position while
Drew Hanson and
Ryan Ward won 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Rugter Vliegenberg and
Andrew Plum won at No. 1 and No. 4 singles in straight sets. Both
Ryan Ward and
Nathan Martin took their matches at No. 2 and No. 3 singles in a third set super tie breaker.
