TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues fell 1-0 to Truman State Thursday night in Yager Stadium under rainy skies. The win was the 11th in a row for the Bulldogs. Washburn (8-8-1, 5-7-1 MIAA) will be back in action in Emporia, Kan., when they will take on Emporia State in the second round of the Turnpike Tussle. Washburn won the first meeting between the two schools 2-1 on Oct. 15.
The Bulldogs (13-2-2, 12-1-0 MIAA) scored the lone goal of the first half when Truman's Olivia Hayes scored her 12th goal of the season as she connected unassisted from 15 yards out into the left hand side of the net.
Ashley Taylor led the lady Blues with two shot attempts with both of them coming on goal.
Ashley Klone recorded two saves for Washburn.
Jayne Grisham had the shutout for the Bulldogs collecting two saves.
Truman outshot the Lady Blues 7 to 4 after each team attempted two shots in the first half.
