Lady Blues beat ESU for 10th straight time on soccer pitch

EMPORIA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues swept the season series while topping Emporia State for the 10th straight match in a 2-1 in Emporia. Washburn (9-8-1, 6-7-1 MIAA) will be back in action on Nov. 5 at Missouri Southern before returning home to wrap up the season on Nov. 7 against Missouri Western on senior night in Yager Stadium.

Neither team scored in the first as Washburn outshot Emporia State 9-6. In the second half, Keeley Lambeth scored her third goal of the season as her shot sailed over the goalkeeper's head in the 74th minute of the match.

Tia Stovall scored her fifth of the season when she put a pass from Ashley Taylor into the back of the net at the 82:40 mark of the match.

Emporia State scored their only goal of the match in the 88th minute when Tina Commons scored her second goal of the season unassisted.

Washburn's Ashley Klone picked up the win in net for the Lady Blues collecting two saves while facing 11 shots.

The Lady Blues outshot the Hornets 19 to 11.
