Setting the scene . . .
The Washburn Ichabods hit the hardwood for the second straight night as they will take on Kansas Wesleyan on Tuesday night in Lee Arena on the heels of a Monday night game against Bethany. The Ichabods topped Bethany 86-59 last time out. Kansas Wesleyan (2-6) has dropped their last five games including a 62-52 loss at Park last time out.

Ichabods on Radio . . .
The game will be broadcast live on AM 580 WIBW. The game can also be heard on the internet at www.wusports.com by following the “Live Audio” link under basketball. Bruce Steinbrock will be the play-by-play voice of the Ichabods and former WU quarterback Mark Elliott will be the color analyst.

The Coaches. . .
Washburn Ichabod head basketball coach Bob Chipman is in his 31st season at the helm of the Ichabod basketball program. For 24 years now Chipman has been the winningest coach in school history and in 2006-07 he became the second winningest coach as a member of the MIAA. Chipman is 665-265 (.715) overall and he has 421 wins since the Ichabods joined the MIAA - the most of any teams in the league since the 1991-92 season. Chipman is 3-0 against Kansas Wesleyan.
Kansas Wesleyan head coach Mike Davert is 35-32 in his third season on the Coyotes bench. Davert is no stranger to Kansas Wesleyan University, as he served as assistant coach for former coach and athletic director Jerry Jones for two seasons in 2004-05 and 2005-06. Davert comes to KWU after spending three seasons as head coach at Southeast of Saline High School, where compiled a 48-19 overall record, and led the Trojans to the 2006-07 KSHSAA Boys' Class 3A State tournament, finishing with a 22-2 record.

Last time out for the Ichabods . . .
(Nov. 23, 2009) TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods shot 56 percent in the second half turning a 1-point halftime lead into a 27-point win over Bethany Monday night in Lee Arena in an 86-59 victory.
After leading at the break 33-32, the Ichabods came out of the locker room on a 15-2 run over the first seven minutes of the half opening a 48-34 lead. The Ichabods would go on to lead as many as 29 in the second half as they held the Swedes to 8 of 21 shooting in the half for a 38 percent clip. The Ichabods jumped from a 38 percent average in the first half (11 of 29) to 18 of 32  in the second half for a 56 percent mark.
Washburn trailed by as many as nine in the game at 19-10 as the Swedes came out hitting 7 of their first 8 shots including both 3-point attempts. A 14-2 run by the Ichabods pushed Washburn to the 1-point lead.
Logan Stutz had a career high 21 points on 8 of 9 shooting from the field to go along with seven rebounds. He led a total of five Ichabods in double figures as Maurice Colter (15), Dezahn Otis (12), De'Andre Washington (11) and William McNeill (10) all reach double digits. McNeill added a game-high nine rebounds.
Clayton Goggins led the Swedes with 15 points.
The Ichabods out rebounded the Swedes 40 to 24 and forced 22 turnovers leading to 23 points. The Ichabods were also 24 of 29 from the free throw line compared to 12 of 16 for Bethany.

ABOUT Kansas Wesleyan . . .
Kansas Wesleyan is 2-6 this season and Tuesday's game will be an exhibition game for the Coyotes. KWC has lost their last five games coming off a 62-52 loss at Park. Matthew Dickman leads the team in scoring with a 12.1 points per game average. Wesley Jones is averaging 10.1 ppg. Opponents are averaging 72.5 points per game against Kansas Wesleyan.

Last time out for the Coyotes . . .
Nov. 21, 2009 -- PARKVILLE, MO. – The early season struggles for the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes continued tonight as Wesleyan dropped a 62-52 decision to the Park Pirates on Saturday at Breckon Sports Center.
The Pirates scored the first four points of the game, and would eventually build their lead to as many as 10 at 14-4 when coach Mike Davert was called for a technical foul with 12:11 left in the first half.
Wesleyan would cut the lead to five, the last time at the 8:24 mark on a three by Bryson Flax to make it 19-14. Park would regain a 23-14 lead with 4:57 left in the first half on a free throw.
The Coyotes would cut the margin to just one at the 2:39 mark when Mekan Moss would score to cap a 10-2 run that made it 25-24. Park would finish the half on a 6-0 run to take a 31-24 lead into intermission.
Park (4-4) built its lead to as many as 14 with 16:34 to go in the second half on a steal and layup by Reco Anderson. Wesleyan didn't fade, cutting the lead to seven with 14:25 to go on a stick back by Willie McCarty.
The Pirates would regain a 14-point lead on a three by Goldeng Deng with 5:28 left in the game, but the Coyotes fought back again, sparked by a Flax three, using an 8-0 run to get within six at 53-47 with 4:06 left.
Wesleyan got within six one more time with one minute left, but the Pirates scored the final four points to grab the 62-52 win.
Dickman led the Coyotes with 15, while Flax added 12 and Harvey had 11 as the Coyotes shot 19-of-58 from the floor for 32.8 percent. Harvey and Jarrett led the Coyotes with seven rebounds.
Park was led by Herschel Rodgers with 20, while Deng had eight and four others had six. Rodgers also led the Pirates with seven rebounds.

SERIES NOTES . . .
The Ichabods lead the all-time series 12-9-1 and have won the last three games in the series. The teams last met on Nov. 24, 2007 in Topeka with the Ichabods picking up a 102-60 win. Prior to the 2003-04 season, the teams had not played since the 1951-52 season. The game played on Nov. 22, 2003 was a 122-57 win for the Ichabods and it was the third-highest single-game point total in Washburn history and the 65-point margin of victory is the largest in Ichabod history topping the 62-point win over Campbell in an 81-18 win during the 1913-14 season.

Last meeting with Kansas Wesleyan . . .
Nov. 24, 2007 -- Washburn improved to 4-1 as six Ichabods scored in double figures in a 102-60 win over Kansas Wesleyan Saturday in the final game of the Capitol Plaza/AM 580 WIBW Holiday Classic.
The Ichabods shot 53 percent for their second game shooting 50 percent or better this year and second game reaching 100 points. Washburn shot 58 percent in the first half.
Brady Sisk led the Ichabods with 17 points while James Williams was 6 of 9 from the field for 14 points. Darnell Kimble was 5 of 7 for 12 points while Paul Byers was 5 of 6 with 11 points. Angel Santiago and Grant Hargett also cracked double figures with 10 points each.
Andrew Meile had seven assists, one night after setting a career high with seven. Hargett, Santiago and Mario Scott each had four assists. Hargett and Scott led with three steals each and Kimble blocked a pair of shots.
Hargett and Kyle Snyder led Washburn with six rebounds each while Sisk pulled in five.
Washburn had just one turnover in the first half and led 52-30 at the break.

Ichabod Basketball History . . .
Washburn is 1,363-949 (.682 in 2,312 games) in its 104th season of intercollegiate action. The Ichabods are the ninth-winningest team in NCAA Division II history and the 26th winningest team this decade. The Ichabods are 421-184 since joining the NCAA Division II ranks, which is the most since the 1989-90 season in the MIAA.

Ichabods In Lee Arena . . .
The Ichabods are 333-59 (.848) all-time in Lee Arena - the 26th season of play. The Ichabods recorded a school-best 28-game winning streak from Nov. 19, 1993 to Feb. 8, 1995 in Lee Arena. The Ichabods have won 13 straight regular season non-conference home games and 36 of their last 39 regular season non-conference games home.

Tip Ins. . .
• The Ichabods have reached 100 points in two of the last three games against Kansas Wesleyan -- 122 points on Nov. 22, 2003 and 102 points on Nov. 24, 2007.
Nate Daniels had a career-high three steals the last time Washburn played Kansas Wesleyan.
