2009 AVCA NCAA-II All-Americans
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Washburn senior setter
Kate Hampson and sophomore middle hitter
Mollie Lacy were named to the AVCA All-American Team released Monday night. Hampson was a third team selection and Lacy earned honorable mention honors.
This is the second All-American honor for Hampson and the first for Lacy. Hampson was a third team Daktronics All-American in 2007.
Hampson ended her career as Washburn's all-time leader in three categories, including assists with 5,897. She also ranks second all-time in the MIAA in career assists. Her 55 career double-doubles ranks third all-time at Washburn and she becomes the fourth Lady Blue to earn multiple All-American honors.
Lacy led Washburn with 380 kills and averaged nearly three kills per set. She also led the MIAA and was fifth in the NCAA-II with a .405 hitting percentage.
Washburn has now earned 12 All-American honors. They have all come since 2003 under head coach
Chris Herron.
