KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Fifteen players for Washburn volleyball were recognized by the MIAA for their academic success on Wednesday afternoon being named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Washburn also had seven players earn MIAA Scholar Athlete honors and three earn Academic Excellence awards.

To be named to the Academic Honor Roll the student athlete must have a cumulative grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

The Ichabods named to the MIAA Academic Honor roll were: Katie Borough (Marketing), Austin Broadie (Finance), Josie Cleveringa (Radiologic Technology), Sydney Conner (Mass Media), Alex Dvorak (Nursing), Shannon Frakes (Forensic Investigation Science), Natalie Hedlund (Nursing), Kali Henry (Marketing), Emery Keebaugh (Elementary Education), Abby Leaf (Psychology), Bella Limback (Biology), Corinna McMullen (Elementary Education), Keilah Rivers (Biochemistry), Taylor Rottinghaus (Mass Media), Brynne Topolski (Exploratory).

In the classroom, an MIAA Scholar-Athlete is an individual who has a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 or better at the certifying member institution. On the field, the student-athlete must receive All-MIAA honors to fully achieve Scholar-Athlete status.

Earning that honor this season were Austin Broadie, Alex Dvorak, Bella Limback, Corinna McMullen, Keilah Rivers, Taylor Rottinghaus and Brynne Topolski.

It is the first time earning the honor for Topolski and Rivers. All of Broadie, Limback Dvorak are two-time recipients of the award with Rottinghaus earning it for a third time and McMullen capping off her career with a fourth straight honor.

An Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution.

For Washburn, Emery Keebaugh, Corinna McMullen and Brynne Topolski all were recognized for their achievement. For Topolski and Keebaugh it is a second year earning the honor and for McMuellen a fourth year.

Across the conference for volleyball, 119 players were selected to the Academic Honor Roll, 27 were named Scholar-Athletes and 21 earned Academic Excellence status.  The Ichabods were tied for the most MIAA Scholar-Athletes with six.

These academic awards do not include true freshmen or first-year transfers who played on MIAA volleyball teams in the 2025 season. The Association will release its MIAA Newcomer Academic Awards from the 2025-26 academic year in late June, following the completion of those athletes' first two full terms at an MIAA institution.
