EDMOND, Okla. -- The Washburn Lady Blues softball team split a doubleheader with Central Oklahoma picking up their first win of the season. Washburn dropped the opener 11-1 then rebounded to take the second game 6-2. Washburn (1-8) will face Southeastern Oklahoma in a doubleheader on Feb. 19 in Durant, Okla.
In the first game, Washburn scored their only run of the game after Tish Wililams walked to lead off the inning and scored on a single by
Dani White. In the bottom of the inning Central Oklahoma scored a run to tie the score then scored five in the second frame, two more in the third and three in the fourth leading to the 11-1 win. Washburn was limited to three hits.
Washburn won their first game of the season in the second game taking the 6-2 win. Williams hit the first of her two home runs to lead off the game. He second home run came in the fifth inning and was her fourth of the season. Washburn added two more in the first inning when
Whitney Tapp homered to left center scoring
Ashley Podschun. The Lady Blues added one in the third inning on a sac fly by Tapp scoring
Lindsey Himpel. Himpel scored in the seventh inning on a single by
Dani White.
Kayla Long recorded the win scattering six hits allowing one earned run in the complete-game win.
