HAYS, Kan. -- The Ichabods dropped a pair of MIAA games to third-ranked Emporia State on Monday in Hays, Kan. ESU took game one 10-1 in seven-innings before rallying for a 9-8 win in game two. The games were relocated to Hays due to the winter weather that moved through over the weekend causing unplayable field conditions.
The Hornets (25-5, 14-2 MIAA) took game one 10-1. ESU led 1-0 through three innings thanks to a first-inning run. The Hornets then exploded for nine runs in the fourth inning to take a 10-0 lead. ESU had six hits in the inning and were aided by one error from Washburn. The Ichabods (12-12, 6-6 MIAA) were only able to muster two hits and scored one run in the top of the seventh for the final.
