KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabods had an early lead, but fell 12-9 to Rockhurst in a non-conference game on Tuesday night in Kansas City. WU led 1-0 after a half inning and 4-3 after 1.5 innings before the Hawks took the lead for good in the third.
The Ichabods (18-24) scored one run in their first at bat on an RBI single from 
Dane Simoneau. The Hawks (31-14) responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead.
The 'Bods rallied for three runs of their own in the second. 
Travis Ice had an RBI groundout and two runs scored thanks to a wild pitch and a passed ball. Rockhurst regained the lead for good with three runs in the third and extended the lead with five tallies in the fifth.
WU cut the lead to three with three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh, but could get no closer. The Hawks added a single run in the eighth and the Ichabods could only muster one in the ninth.

Joel Ricketts (4-5) allowed six runs, three earned, on five hits in 2.2 innings and 
was tagged with the loss.
