TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn swept Fort Hays State at the Washburn softball complex as they won the first game in a wild 11-8 game while taking the second one 2-1 in a weather-shortened game which last five innings. Washburn (22-29, 9-11 MIAA) will take on Missouri Western on Tuesday at home in its regular season finale in a non-conference doubleheader.

Game 1 -- Washburn 11, Fort Hays State 8
Lindsey Himpel's 2 RBI triple capped a wild game which saw the team combine for 19 runs, 21 hits and six errors. Himpel's big hit came in the bottom of the fifth inning after the Tigers intentionally walked Tish Williams who had homered in her two previous at bats raising her single-season total to a school-record 19. Himpel's triple pushed Washburn to a 9-8 lead. Washburn added one more in the frame on a Danie White double to right scoring easily scoring Himpel.

Samantha Farris retired the Tigers in the sixth and Himpel tracked down three fly outs in the bottom of the seventh to wrap up the game for the Lady Blues. Farris (11-15) came in the game in relief and pitched five innings for the win with three strike outs allowing one earned run. Kayla Long received a no-decision after allowing one earned run in two innings. Of FHSU's eight runs scored, only two were earned.

Lindsey Moore was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI. Maggie West also had 3 hits in four at bats and an RBI. Williams, Himpel and Ashley Podschun each had two hits. Williams finished with three runs scored.

Game 2 -- Washburn 2, Fort Hays State 1 (5 innings)

The Lady Blues won a rain-shortened five inning game on the strength of Dani White's 11th home run of the season and the 42nd of her career on senior day. Severe weather postponed the game for 30 minutes and after another 15 minute delay while watching the weather radar the game was called as it was an official game.

White made the most of her senior day as she also doubled in her second at bat. White's home run came after the Tigers took a 1-0 led in the top of the first.

Farris picked up her second win of the day improving to 12-15 on the season.
