Setting the Scene:
The Washburn Lady Blues will hit the pitch at Yager Stadium for their only match of the week as they will play host to Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday, Oct. 16. The Mavericks (5-5-1, 5-3-1) will take on Truman on Thursday before coming to Topeka Saturday night. Washbrun went 0-1-1 last week with a 3-0 loss to Central Missouri and a 1-1 double overtime tie at Missouri Southern.

About the coach: Head coach Don Klosterman is in his 12th season at the helm of the Maverick women's soccer team. He has compiled a 188-50-10 overall record as the only soccer coach in UNO history. Under the direction of Klosterman, UNO has advanced to eight-straight NCAA Tournament appearances (2002-2009). In those appearances, Klosterman guided the Mavericks to at least the quarterfinals in six straight seasons (2002-2007), and led the team to a 2005 National Championship. During his tenure, he has earned the National Coach of the Year honors two times (2002, 2005).
About the Mavericks: UNO is led by Hilary Horvatic who has 11 points to pace the Maverick attack with four goals and three assists. Lauren Fox has played 914 minutes in goal and has recorded a 1.08 goal against average. Since beating Washburn 4-0 on Sept. 16, the Mavericks have gone 4-2-1.

Last meeting with Nebraska-Omaha: Sept. 16, 2010 - OMAHA, Neb. -- The Washburn Lady Blues fell behind early and they were not able to recover in a 4-0 loss at Nebraska-Omaha.
The host Mavericks 4:33 into the match as Becca Swanson scored the first of her two goals on the afternoon. The teams entered the halftime break trailing 1-0 after they were outshot by the Mavericks 7-1. Swanson scored her second goal in the 51st minute and less than four minutes later the UNO's Megan Kingston scored her first goal of the season putting the Mavericks up 3-0. Monica Bosilevac put UNO up 4-0 in the 65th minute off a penalty kick.
Overall the Mavericks attcked the goal outshooting the Lady Blues 15 to 3 and attempted six cornerkicks to one for Washburn.
Ashley Klone had 11 saves in goal for the Lady Blues.

Last time out for Nebraska-Omaha: Oct.9, 2010 - ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western scored in double overtime to upset the UNO soccer team, 2-1 on Saturday night. It was the Griffons' first win of the season. The loss drops the Mavericks to 5-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the MIAA. Junior forward Hilary Horvatic opened up scoring for the Mavericks, blasting a shot past Missouri Western goalkeeper Jenna Weis off a rebound in the 2nd minute. Horvatic's goal was her team-leading fourth of the season.
Forward Heather Schmiemeier led the rally for the Griffons, scoring both the tying goal and the game winner.
Schmiemeier's first score came in the 70th minute on a rebound shot past UNO goalkeeper Lauren Fox.
With 8:24 remaining in the second overtime, Schmiemeier notched her second goal of the season on a cross shot from a corner kick, giving the Griffons the 2-1 victory. Weis stopped 14 shots in more than 101 minutes of action. The Mavericks outshot the Griffons 15-3. Missouri Western improves to 1-5-5 overall and 1-3-5 in the MIAA.
UNO returns to the UNO Soccer Field against Truman on Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. The Mavericks lost 1-0 in Kirksville, Mo. earlier this season.

Lauren Henry scored a match-tying goal with one second remaining in regulation pushing the Lady Blues to a 1-1 double overtime tie at Missouri Southern on Saturday.
Henry's equalizer on an assist from
Megan Buckley at the 89:59 mark of the match tied the score at 1-1 after the Lions scored the first goal of the match in the 62nd minute on a goal by Shannon Kuhn.
Ashley Klone had seven saves in net for Washburn. Henry had 10 shots in the match leading Washburn to an 18 to 16 advantage. Six of Henry's shots were on goal.
In the overtime periods, Washburn was outshot 5-2.
