Chipman is 679-278 (.709) overall and he has 438 wins since the Ichabods joined the MIAA - the most of any teams in the league since the 1991-92 season. Chipman is 12th amongst all NCAA II coaches in winning percentage who have coached at least 10 seasons. Among that group, he is second in all-time coaching victories in active coaches in career victories. Among all coaches who have at least 10 years experience in DII, he is 24th in winning percentage and seventh in victories. He is the third active winningest coach in NCAA Division II and 10th in winning percentage and his 678 coaching wins is 28th all-time among all NCAA coaches at all levels. At Washburn he has led the Ichabods to 11 conference regular season titles (9 MIAA), 10 NCAA Tournament appearances and the 1987 NAIA National Championship.
Kansas Wesleyan head coach Mike Davert is 48-45 in his fourth season on the Coyotes bench. Davert is no stranger to Kansas Wesleyan University, as he served as assistant coach for former coach and athletic director Jerry Jones for two seasons in 2004-05 and 2005-06. Davert comes to KWU after spending three seasons as head coach at Southeast of Saline High School, where compiled a 48-19 overall record, and led the Trojans to the 2006-07 KSHSAA Boys' Class 3A State tournament, finishing with a 22-2 record.

A lay up by Peru State's Derrick Williams at the 12:26 mark of the half cut the Ichabod lead to 14-7, but a 9-0 spurt by the Ichabods over the next five minutes put the game out of reach as Washburn improved to 73-31-1 in its first game of the season and 29-4 under head coach

Last time out for Kansas Wesleyan . . .
Kansas Wesleyan Sports Information -- Nov. 16, 2010 - The win evens Wesleyan's record at 3-3, while Baker fell to 2-3 on the season.
With just under four minutes left it looked like it was going to be another barn burner, similar to the game in Baldwin City 12 days ago. Baker had taken a 53-52 lead with 3:53 to go on a free throw by Jaris Wommack, but Wesleyan's Matt Dickman answered back on the next possession, nailing a huge triple to put the Coyotes up for good with 3:34 to go.
Wesleyan fed on the momentum, building a seven-point lead with 1:40 to go on a score by Dickman, but Baker would rally on a pair of Drew Berg free throws with 1:26 to go and then a three by Wommack with 42.7 left got the Wildcats within two at 62-60.
Baker fouled Jerome Cheadle to send him to the line where he hit one-of-two charity tosses putting the Coyotes up three at 35.7 left. On Baker's next possession Wommack tried a pass over the middle that missed everyone, giving the ball back to the Coyotes. Bryson Flax was then sent to the line where he sealed the deal with a pair of charity tosses and Matt Dickman added two more free throws with 9.8 left to give the Coyotes a 67-60 win.
The Coyotes boomed out to an 11-point lead with 16:12 to go in the first half at 15-4, but Baker rallied thanks in part to a 13-4 run that was capped by a pair of free throws with 8:23 to go before the break by Corey Anderson.
Wesleyan rebuilt its lead to six on a three by Mikey Doll, but a triple by Wommack with 3:49 left gave Baker its first lead of the game at 27-26. Freshman Dane Brinker put the Coyotes back up by two with 1:35 to go with a triple from the left corner and after a free throw by Baker, Dickman would score with 38 seconds to go to give Wesleyan a 31-28 lead at the half.
Baker took its first lead of the second half with 18:09 to go on a bucket by Austin Bond, but Tony Milani would score and be fouled intentionally by Berg, and would convert a four-point play to put the Coyotes up three with 16:58 to go.
The Wildcats took the lead back on Andre Strozier's free throws with 12:39 to go that made it 41-39 Baker, and a three-point play by Strozier gave Baker its biggest lead of the night at 44-39 with 11:30 to go.
Tyler Antenen scored with 7:21 to go to tie things up at 48-all, and Antenen would score the next four points for the Coyotes to give them a 52-48 lead with 5:49 to go. Baker then scored the next five points to take the 53-52 lead with 3:53 to go.
Dickman scored a game high 26 points for the Coyotes, while Antenen added 11 and Milani tossed in ten off the bench for the Coyotes, who finished the game shooting 20-of-49 from the field for 40.8 percent after shooting 52 percent in the opening 20 minutes.
