Last time out for the Ichabods
    March 28, 2010 - JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabods were swept in an MIAA doubleheader at Missouri Southern on Sunday afternoon. The Ichabods dropped game one 3-1 before coming up short 7-4 in the nightcap. Washburn is back in action on Tuesday at home against Fort Hays State at 2 p.m.
Game one was scoreless through the first four innings before Washburn (12-8, 11-7 MIAA) got on the board with a single run in the top of the fifth. 
Cameron Kasel doubled home 
Dane Simoneau to give the Ichabods the lead. Missouri Southern (11-16, 9-11 MIAA) came right back with three runs in the bottom of the inning and that was the difference.
Dustin Holthaus (4-1) took the loss for Washburn after allowing three runs on eight hits in six innings of work.
The Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game two with single runs in the first and third innings. Washburn got on the board with one tally in the fourth on a Simoneau RBI single. MSSU added to its lead with a single run in the fifth and four runs in the sixth for a 7-1 lead.
Washburn rallied with three runs in the top of the eighth inning, but could get no closer. Kasel had a two-run home run to start things off and Simoneau added an RBI single.
Raul Guevara (3-1) took the loss for the Ichabods. He allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings. CJ Maffei (3-4) earned the win for Missouri Southern after allowing one run on four hits in seven innings of work.
About Fort Hays State
The Tigers enter the week with a 17-7 overall record, including 11-7 in MIAA play after going 2-2 over the weekend. Fort Hays State split a four-game MIAA series in Bolivar, Mo. against Southwest Baptist. TheTigers swept Metro State 6-5 and 20-8 earlier in the week. They started the season 8-0 and have won five of their past seven games.
Kyle Stacken leads FHSU with a .429 average. He has a team-high 10 home runs and 30 RBI in 24 games played. Connor Martin is second on the squad batting .412. Eight Tiger players are batting .300 or better. 
Fort Hays State has hit 30 home runs, while giving up 27 long balls. The Tigers have 86 extra-base hits and their pitchers have allowed 83. FHSU has stolen 26 bases and allowed 26.
Matt Augustine leads the Fort Hays State pitching staff with a 2.36 ERA in 34.1 innings of work. He has a team-high 36 strike outs and has walked only six batters.
Tiger fielders have committed 35 errors on the season, while the opponents have committed 37 against FHSU.
New Promotions at Ichabod Home Games
Starting with the Tuesday doubleheader against Fort Hays State there will be new promotions going on at Washburn home games.
Games and drawings will determine the winners of great prizes including free movie rentals, concessions food and other gift certificates to local area restuarants.
In addition, all Tuesday home games are now “T-Shirt Tuesday's” courtesy of Bod Squad and Washburn Student Government Association. T-Shirts will be handed out to Washburn students who come out and show their support for the Ichabods.
