CANYON, Texas -- The Washburn Lady Blues dropped their first two games of the Lady Buff Invitational falling to 5-7 on the season. The Lady Blues will take on Eastern New Mexico tomorrow before entering bracket play Saturday afternoon.
Game 1 - No. 23 West Texas A&M 9, Washburn 5
The Lady Blues fell behind four after the first inning before rallying to score five in the top of the third to take a 5-4 lead.
Lindsey Moore led off the inning with a home run and
Britny Cushing hit a two-run homer of her own.
Lindsey Himpel had an RBI double. West Texas scored one more in the third to take the lead and blew the game open with a four-run fifth inning. The Lady Blues stranded eight base runners while collecting eight hits compared to seven for WTAMU.

Game 2 - Central Oklahoma 6, Washburn 2
The Lady Blues were held scoreless until the top of the seventh inning when they scored both of their runs in a 6-2 loss to the Bronchos. The Lady Blues stranded 13 runners in the game while picking up nine hits.
Alex Zordel had three hits to lead Washburn.
Marissa Martin continued her career-best nine-game hitting streak in the loss for Washburn while raising her batting average to .370.
