CANYON, Texas -- The Washburn Lady Blues softball team improved to 7-8 in a 6-4 win over West Texas A&M in a single game Sunday afternoon.

Washburn scored three in the top of the first and two more in the top of the third jumping out to a 5-0 lead for starting pitcher Kayla Long (4-5) who picked up the complete game win as all four runs the Lady Buffs scored were unearned.

Lindsey Himpel, Britny Cushing, Ashley Podschun, Tish Williams and Alex Zordel each had two hits for Washburn. Williams drove in two runs in the win.
