TOPEKA, Kan. -- The No. 27 ranked Washburn Ichabods rolled to a 9-0 win over Emporia State improving to 11-6 on the season and 4-1 in MIAA play. The Ichabods will be off from games until the MIAA Tournament next weekend unless a previously scheduled match with Johnson County is rescheduled next week.
The Ichabods lost just 10 games in doubles play to open the match with a 3-0 lead. In singles play,
Branden Joost at No. 1,
Ryan Ward at No. 2,
Simon Blondin at No. 3,
Adam Rens at No. 5 and
Emmanuel Laurent at No. 6 all won in straight sets with each Ichabod losing no more than two games in any set. At No. 4 singles, Washburn's
Yann Kasay won in three sets falling 3-6 in the first set before coming back to take the second set 6-4 and then winning the third set super tiebreaker 13-11.
