KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabods, who shared the first MIAA regular season championship with Northwest Missouri and Southwest Baptist, will be the No. 3 seed after a drawing and will take on Emporia State on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City. Washburn won the 2009 MIAA Tennis Tournament for the third time in the last four years also winning titles in 2007 and 2006.

This season was the first for an MIAA regular season champion and the Ichabods and both sets of Bearcats each went 4-1 in MIAA play with Washburn beating Southwest Baptist 5-4, Southwest Baptist topping Northwest Missouri 5-3 and Northwest Missouri knocking off Washburn 5-4.

The Ichabods won their last match out on April 14, which was a 9-0 win over Emporia State. The winner of the Washburn/ESU match will face the No. 2 seeded Southwest Baptist squad and the winner of that match will advance to the championship match on Sunday at 9 a.m.
