KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Washburn had a late rally fall short in a 5-4 loss at Rockhurst on Thursday afternoon. The Ichabods trailed 5-0 after two innings, but came up short in their rally. Washburn will return to action this weekend at Central Missouri beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Danny Cook (1-4) allowed five runs, all in the second inning, on three hits in three innings and took the loss.
The Ichabods got on the board in the fourth when
Andy Petz scored. Vicente Vieyra and
Travis Cruz had RBI doubles in the seventh to pull Washburn within two at 5-3.
David Wade smacked his second home run of the season leading off the ninth to pull the 'Bods within a run, but the next three batters were retired in order to end the game.
Tom McVey (1-1) earned the win for Rockhurst after allowing one run on four hits in six innings.
