The Washburn Lady Blues return to the Yager Stadium pitch Tuesday night when they will face Missouri Southern in their only meeting this season. On Thursday, the Lady Blues will face Truman at 3 p.m. in Kirksville. Washburn (1-9-2, 1-2-1 MIAA) is coming off a 2-1 loss to Northwest Missouri last time out.

(Oct. 9, 2010) JOPLIN, Mo. -- Washburn's
Lauren Henry scored a match-tying goal with one second remaining in regulation pushing the Lady Blues to a 1-1 double overtime tie at Missouri Southern on Saturday.
Henry's equalizer on an assist from
Megan Buckley at the 89:59 mark of the match tied the score at 1-1 after the Lions scored the first goal of the match in the 62nd minute on a goal by Shannon Kuhn.
Ashley Klone had seven saves in net for Washburn. Henry had 10 shots in the match leading Washburn to an 18 to 16 advantage. Six of Henry's shots were on goal.
In the overtime periods, Washburn was outshot 5-2.
About Truman
Bulldog notes:
The Bulldogs will be well-rested entering this weekend's slate of matches, having had seven days off since a 2-0 road win at Northwest Missouri on Thursday, Oct. 6. Although the early season fireworks of goals has dwindled slightly for the Bulldog offense, the chances have been there as Truman has outshot its opponents, 78-14, in MIAA play through the first four matches.
About the coach:
Mike Cannon enters his 19th season at Truman in 2011 and is the most successful coach to lead the Bulldog program during its 27 years of existence. With a career record of 248-88-37 (.718), Cannon
is the winningest coach in Truman women's soccer history and is ranked seventh in victories among all-time Division II coaches entering the 2011 season.
About the Bulldogs:
Sophomore transfer Trisha Shoemaker remains the team's top goal-scorer with five on the season, followed closely by juniors Kelsey Twellman (four) and Olivia Hayes (three). Senior Megan Buri is responsible for five of the team's 13 total assists on the year, with Twellman and Hayes both lurking once again with three apiece. Senior Jayne Grisham has been in goal for each of the past three shutouts, lowering her season-long goals-against average to 1.38 in more than 900 minutes.
Series history with the Bulldogs: The Bulldogs are 13-3-2 all-time against the Lady Blues, including a 1-0- 1 mark against them last season.

(Oct. 30, 2010) – KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team had their two match winning streak snapped in a 2-0 loss to Truman on Saturday.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the 32nd minute on an unassisted goal by Megan Buri on her fifth goal of the season. In the second half Truman added another goal on Suzanne Pelley score in the 75th minute on her second goal of the year.
Truman outshot the Lady Blues 15 to 8 in the match and 6 to 1 in the second half when the Lady Blues were going into a strong wind.
Tia Stovall had two shots on goal and
Markie Gallagher had one. Overall Stovall had three shots.
Ashley Klone had five saves in the match.
Last time out for the Lady Blues
(Oct. 8, 2011) TOPEKA, Kan. -
Caysie Beetley's header in the first half held until Northwest Missouri scored twice in the final 12 minutes to give The Lady Blues (1-9-2, 1-2-1 MIAA) will play another home game Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Missouri Southern.
Tia Stovall sent a pass from midfield to
Leah Talley on the left side. She dribbled it near the Bearcat endline and passed it wide of the net to Beetley. Beetley headed it in from five yards out for her second goal of the year to give Washburn a 1-0 lead at the 27:33 mark.
The Lady Blues led the first half in shots, 4-2 and three of their shots were on goal. The Bearcats broke through in the second half, piling on 11 shots while Washburn got just three.
A scrum just in front of the goal at the 77:59 mark resulted in Northwest Missouri's first goal. Victoria Von Mende was able to knock it in for her ninth goal of the year.
Fiona Moloney got the game-winner with just three minutes remaining. Elizabeth Walde sent a pass forward from midfield and WU goalkeeper
Tori Fuglister came out too far on it. Moloney was able to control it and send it to the back of an open net.
Washburn had a chance late when
Lauren Henry sent a shot off NWMSU keeper Kelsey Adams' hands with just under two minutes remaining.
Beetley led Washburn with three shots and two on goal. Four others each had one shot. Fuglister made six saves and Adams had three.

Washburn is 77-69-28 (.560) all-time in its ninth season of competing. In MIAA play, the Lady Blues are 54-48-20 (.537). In home matches, the Lady Blues are 37-25-12 and they are 33-38-12 on the road. In matches on neutral sites, the Lady Blues are 7-6-4.

The Lady Blues will face Emporia State at 6 p.m. in Yager Stadium in their final home appearance of the season on Oct. 20 before playing three straight road matches at Nebraska-Omaha on Oct. 22, Missouri Western on Oct. 27 and Fort Hays State Oct. 29. The MIAA Tournament begins on Nov. 3 for the top six teams in the final conference standings.
