Scene Setter
The Washburn Lady Blues will return to action on Oct. 6 when they travel to Warrensburg, Mo., to face the No. 12-ranked Central Missouri Jennies at 7 p.m. then return home to face Northwest Missouri at 6 p.m. in Yager Stadium on Oct. 8. The Lady Blues are 1-7-2 this season and 1-0-1 in MIAA play. The Jennies are 9-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play while the Bearcats are 4-2-2 and 1-0-0 entering an Oct. 4 match with Emporia State and an Oct. 6 match with Truman before facing Washburn. Both matches will count in the MIAA standings for the Lady Blues this week.

The Jennies are 9-1-0 this season and ranked No. 12 in the latest NSCAA top 25 coaches poll. The Jennies lone loss this season came in a 1-0 setback to Dallas Baptist.
About the coach:
Three-time MIAA Coach of the Year, Lewis Theobald enters his fifth season as head coach at Central Missouri with a 68-15-8 record. He recorded more wins in his first three seasons than any other coach in school history. He was the first assistant at Division I Indiana State, where he was the lead recruiter before coming to UCM. He is a 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas.
About the Jennies:
The Jennies were the unanimous pick by the league's coaches to win the 2011 MIAA Championship. UCM had won 27-straight regular season matches until its loss to Dallas Baptist on Sept. 8. The Jennies have seen eight different players score at least one goal this season and have at least one assist Leading the goals scored for Central Missouri are Becky Lackey, Alyssa Rhodes and Nicki Wisnasky with five each Kristin Bright, Caysi Shouse and Carly Stanley have three goals this season while Erin Robinson and Jenna Stones have contributed one goal, respectively. Last meeting with Central Missouri:
(Sept. 15, 2011) – TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues were out shot 31 to 1 in 90 minutes of action in a 1-0 non-conference loss to No. 25-ranked Central Missouri Thursday night in Yager Stadium.
The Jennies scored the lone goal of the match 22:11 into the first half when Nicki Wisnasky scored her third goal of the season on an assist from Alyssa Rhodes as Central Missouri took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Jennies (4-1-0) kept the pressure on the Lady Blues (0-5-1) outshooting Washburn 21 to 0 in the frame en route to the 31 to 1 UCM advantage.

Leah Talley had the only shot on goal for the Lady Blues while starting goalkeeper
Tori Fuglister recorded a career-high 10 saves in 55-plus minutes of play before leaving the game with an injury. She was replaced by
Mallorie Monhollon in net, who recorded four saves in 34 minutes of action.

(Oct. 23, 2010) – TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn's
Caysie Beetley scored her first collegiate goal 51 seconds into the second half to propel the Lady Blues to a 3-0 win over Northwest Missouri in Yager Stadium Saturday night.
Beetley's goal was one of three by the Lady Blues as Washburn's
Lauren Henry added her third goal of the season and
Megan Buckley scored her second goal of the season in the 87th minute capping the scoring in the 3-0 win.
Ashley Klone picked up the shutout win in net with her 15th career shutout and her second shutout of the season in net collecting two saves. The 15th shutout also sets a school record passing former WU netkeeper Jenna Hatlestad. Beetley finished with three shots and
Ashley Hynek,
Danielle Sicard and Henry each had two.
Washburn (4-7-3, 4-6-2 MIAA) outshot the Bearcats (2-9-4, 2-8-3 MIAA) 13 to 3 holding a 12 to 0 advantage in the second half going with a strong southern breeze.

(Oct. 1, 2011) BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team attempted a season-high 28 shots in a 1-1 double overtime tie with Southwest Baptist Saturday afternoon. With the tie Washburn moves to 1-0-1 in MIAA play and 1-7-2 overall.
The Lady Blues fell behind early when SBU was awarded a penalty kick and Kelly Isaac scored in the 12th minute staking the Bearcats to the early lead.
Washburn knotted the score in the 24th minute when
Leah Talley scored a goal in her second straight match after recording one with the Griffons. Talley scored on an assist from
Megan Buckley.
Washburn's
Mallorie Monhollon recorded 10 saves in net for the Lady Blues while facing 28 shots from the Bearcats.
