SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabods were swept in their season-opening doubleheader at Drury on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers took game one 3-1 and completed the sweep with a 9-3 win in the nightcap. The series concludes tomorrow with a single nine-inning game at noon.
Dane Simoneau went 3-for-3 with WU's lone RBI in the first game.
Brett Ash (0-1) took the loss after giving up three runs on five hits in six innings of work. Ash struck out one and walked four.
Daren Parker tossed two hitless innings in relief.
Blake Wixson (2-0) earned the win for Drury tossing six innings giving up one run on three hits and striking out eight. Kevin Sweeney earned the save pitching 1.1 innings of relief giving up one hit.
The Panthers took game two by a score of 9-3.

Cameron Kasel each went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead WU.
Alex Coons (0-1) gave up seven runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings of work and took the loss. Kyle Dyer (2-0) tossed a seven inning complete game to earn the win for Drury. He gave up three runs, only one earned, on four hits and struck out seven.
