SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabods dropped the series finale at Drury 10-2 on Sunday afternoon completing a three-game sweep for the Panthers. Washburn will open MIAA play next weekend with a four-game series at Truman State beginning on Saturday.
Drury (6-1) got on the board with a single run in the first and added four more in the third to take a 5-0 lead. Washburn (0-3) cut the lead to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth on a
Boone Plager two-run single.
The Panthers got one run back in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single from Matt Stacks. DU added another run in the seventh when R.J. Knese scored on a passed ball. The Panthers completed the scoring with three runs in the eighth. Maury Wilmes and Courtney Spitz had RBI doubles in the frame.
Raul Guevara (0-1) took the loss for Washburn after giving up five runs on six hits in just 2.1 innings of work. William Landsheft (2-0) earned the win for DU. He gave up two runs on two hits in five innings.
Plager finished 2-for-3 to lead the Ichabods.
