Leading Off
Washburn (6-5, 6-2 MIAA) will travel to Omaha, Neb. to battle Nebraska-Omaha (7-4, 5-3 MIAA) for the final time. The series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and finishes up with a doubleheader on Sunday at noon.

The Series
Washburn and Nebraska-Omaha have met 71 times on the baseball diamond with the Mavericks holding a 37-34 advantage. Last season, the teams split a four-game series in Topeka. Washburn is 11-16 against UNO under Steve Anson and 4-4 since the Mavericks joined the MIAA.

Washburn
The Ichabods took three out of four from Southwest Baptist in WU's home opening series. The Bearcats won the opener 8-3 in eight innings before Washburn won the next three, including 6-1 and 11-1 wins to sweep the series-ending doubleheader on Saturday. Raul Guevara and Daren Parker once again had strong pitching performances for the Ichabods, while Andy Petz drove in six more runs to bring his season total to a team-leading 15 RBI.

Nebraska-Omaha
The Mavericks split a four-game series in Pittsburg against the Gorillas. UNO won by scores of 14-6 and 3-1, but fell 5-3 and 6-4 to PSU.
Martin Sartin leads the team hitting .462 and has 13 RBI. Tyler Davies has a team-high three home runs and is hitting .281. The Mavericks are hitting .363 as a team and have five players hitting at least .400.
Six pitchers all have one win each for UNO with Derek Landis and Zach Croonquist each sporting 0.00 ERAs out of the bullpen.

Worth Noting
Nebraska-Omaha announced on Sunday that they will be leaving the MIAA to move up to NCAA Division I and join the Summit League. The Mavericks plan to drop their football and wrestling programs when they make the move, even though their wrestling program just won its third straight national championship and sixth in the past eight years.
This will be the final meeting between Washburn and Nebraska-Omaha, unless the teams meet up in the MIAA postseason tournament or regional.

Anson 10th on All-time wins list
Steve Anson has 787 career wins in his 33rd season as a head coach, including 761 wins in his 32nd season at Washburn. That victory total places him 10th on the all-time NCAA-II list. Anson has the most wins among active MIAA coaches.
