OMAHA, Neb. -- The Washburn Ichabods dropped both games of an MIAA doubleheader at Nebraska-Omaha on Friday afternoon. The Ichabods dropped game one 5-3 before falling 5-2 in the nightcap. The series wraps up on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
UNO (9-4, 7-3 MIAA) jumped in front 1-0 with a single run in the bottom of the first, but Washburn (6-7, 6-4 MIAA) took the lead with three runs on the second.
Dane Simoneau had an RBI double and
Blake Hageman had a two-run single to put WU in front. Those were Washburn's only hits of the game.
The Mavericks plated one run in the third and three runs in the fouth to take the game.
Brett Ash (1-3) took the loss for Washburn after giving up five runs on 10 hits in six innings of work. Joe Holtmeyer (2-1) earned the win for UNO giving up three runs on two hits in seven innings.
The Mavericks scored one run in the first, two in the third and two in the fourth to grab a 5-0 lead in game two.
The Ichabods rallied with a single run in the fifth and one in the eighth, but could get no closer.
Derek Fogel (0-2) took the loss for Washburn after giving up five runs, three earned, on six hits in six innings of work. Ben Brown (2-1) got the win for Nebraska-Omaha giving up one run on six hits in seven innings.
