KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods baseball season came to a close on Thursday with an 11-1 loss in eight innings to Nebraska Omaha at Community America Ballpark in the MIAA tournament. The Ichabods finish the season at 22-28.

The Mavericks (33-18) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Brady Hohl scored on a double play.

The Ichabods (22-28) tied the game in the top of the third on a Blake Boling sacrifice fly, but the 'Bods stranded two runners.

UNO regained the lead for good with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. The Mavs plated four runs in the sixth thanks in part to three Washburn errors. A single run in the seventh on a Tyler Splichal RBI double gave the Mavericks an 8-1 lead and they ended the game with three runs in the eighth on four hits.

The 'Bods mustered just four hits on the afternoon with Dane Simoneau going 2-for-4 to lead the team.

Brett Ash (7-5) took the loss for Washburn after giving up seven runs, only three earned, on nine hits in 5.2 innings.

Joe Holtmeyer (8-2) got the win for UNO allowing one unearned run on three hits in 6.1 innings.
