The Washburn Lady Blues will open up their home slate this Thursday when they will play host to No. 25-ranked Central Missouri in a non-conference match up while taking on Fort Hays State in a match which counts as a conference game on Saturday in Yager Stadium.

About the coach:
Three-time MIAA Coach of the Year, Lewis Theobald enters his fifth season as head coach at Central Missouri with a stunning 63-15-8 record. He recorded more wins in his first three seasons than any other coach in school history. He was the first assistant at Division I Indiana State, where he was the lead recruiter before coming to UCM. He is a 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas.
About the Jennies:
The Jennies were the unanimous pick by the league's coaches to win the 2011 MIAA Championship. UCM had won 27-straight regular season matches until its loss to Dallas Baptist on Sept. 8. Alyssa Rhodes leads the team with five points with a pair of goals and an assist. Nicki Wisnasky and Becky Lackey each have two goals as well. Brooke Cooley has a 0.56 goal against average in 320 minutes of action.
Series history with the Jennies: Thursday's meeting will the 17th in the series and Central Missouri leads the series 10-5-1. Overall, the Jennies have outscored the Lady Blues 22-12 in the 17 matches while winning the last two and five of the last six encounters.

Last time out for Central Missouri:
Warrensburg, Mo. -- (Sept. 5) – The University of Central Missouri Jennies (3-1-0) scored the first goal of the match and never looked back Saturday afternoon at Jennies Field, defeating Texas Woman's University (0-1-2), 5-0, in the rain-delayed finale of the 2011 Jennies Classic.
Central Missouri would take less than a minute to score the first goal of the game when Nicki Wisnasky (Godfrey, Ill.) headed in a perfect pass from Kelsie Hanson (Olathe, Kan.) to make it 1-0 Jennies. UCM would score eight minutes later in the ninth minute on another header, this time from Alyssa Rhodes (Olathe, Kan.) off a long pass from Jenna Stones (Olathe, Kan.), increasing the Jennies lead to 2-0. Carly Stanley (De Soto, Kan.) made it 3-0 Central Missouri ten-minutes later after she bounced a corner kick off the right side of the goal post and into the net in the 19th minute.
Central Missouri would take a 3-0 lead into halftime, along with a 9-2 shot advantage over the Pioneers. Jennies' goalkeeper Brooke Cooley (Alton, Ill.) netted both saves of the game in the first half.
The second half only saw four minutes played before inclement weather forced officials to delay the game in the 49th minute. Both teams cleared the field and returned to their locker facilities for shelter.
Play would resume 30-minutes later and the Jennies would continue adding to their lead. The fourth goal for Central Missouri came in the 51st minute after a corner kick by Stanley was touched by Rhodes and then hammered into the net by Kristin Bright (Fenton, Mo.). The Jennies got one more goal in the 83rd minute from Erin Robinson (Smithville, Mo.) to seal the 5-0 victory over the Pioneers.
For the match, the Jennies outshot Texas Woman's University 16-4 and had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. The five goals scored by UCM were the most since the 2010 season, when the Jennies defeated Missouri Southern 6-0 in Joplin.
Last meeting with Central Missouri:
(Nov. 6, 2010) – WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Washburn wrapped up the 2010 season with a 3-0 loss at No. 2-ranked Central Missouri. The Lady Blues finished with a 5-9-4 overall record and a 5-8-3 MIAA mark.
The Jennies took the lead in the 22nd minute when Cindy Lackey scored inside the box past Washburn goalkeeper
Ashley Klone, who finished with nine saves in the match. As the first half was winding down, Carly Stanley scored her eighth goal of the season on an assist from Sarah Hotop leading the Jennies to a 2-0 halftime lead.
Neither team scored in the second half until Becky Lackey scored in the 80th minute.
Washburn was outshot 23 to 3 in the match including the Jennies holding a first half advantage of 15 to 2 and 8 to 1 in the second half. Washburn did attempt 13 corner kicks in the match to the Jennies seven.

Caysie Beetley supplying the other.
The Jennies completed the regular season with an 18-0 record while going a perfect 16-0 in conference play.

About the coach:
Craig Shaw is in his first season as the Tiger's head coach. Prior to beginning Fort Hays State's program, he spent three years as the head coach at Ottawa going 38-20-3.
About the Tigers:
The Tigers are 1-3-0 this season after falling last time out in overtime to Colorado-Colorado Springs 2-1 in overtime. The Tigers won their first game in program history topping Newman 1-0 on Sept. 3. Joanne Glynn has scored two goals to lead the Tiger attack. Kelsey Grey has a 1.49 goal against average in net allowing six goals with 21 saves.

Saturday's match will be the first between Washburn and the Tigers.
Last time out for Fort Hays State: The FHSU women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 overtime loss on the road against UC-Colorado Springs on Sunday (Sept. 11) afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colo. The host Mountain Lions scored less than two minutes into overtime to take the win from the Tigers.
After falling behind 1-0, FHSU notched the equalizer at 54:17. Cindy Benitez's shot was blocked by UCCS goalkeeper Kelly Schroeder, but Rachel Wiesen was there to kick in the rebound for the Tigers. Benitez was credited with the assist on the Wiesen goal.
The game would remain tied after 90 minutes of regulation. In the golden goal overtime, UCCS scored the game winner at 91:53 to pull out the 2-1 win. The Mountain Lions' Julia Saenz scored the game-winner.
UCCS scored their first goal at 38:01 when Hannah Levett put a header by FHSU goalkeeper Kelsey Grey.
The Mountain Lions outshot the Tigers in the game, 15-10, including totaling two overtime shots to zero for FHSU. UCCS also held the second half edge in shots at nine to six.
Last time out for the Lady Blues
WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Washburn Lady Blues dropped a 4-0 decision in their final match of the Central Missouri Jennies Classic.
Washburn (0-4-1) allowed three first half goals to Dallas Baptist. Courtney Baxter scored her second goal of the season in the 14th minute. Brittany Layne scored in the 26th minute and Lea Sedwick added a goal before the half stretching their lead to 3-0 entering the halftime break.
DBU's Kourtney Edwards added a goal in the 68th minute wrapping up the scoring for the Patriots.
Washburn was out shot 13 to 5 in the match.
Tia Stovall and
Lauren Henry had the two lone shots on goal for Washburn and each had two shots overall. Mallorie Monholln (0-2-0) allowed gave up three first half goals and was relived by
Tori Fuglister who allowed the fourth DBU goal of the match.
