TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team fell 2-0 to the Truman Bulldogs after allowing a pair of second half goals in Yager Stadium on Friday night. Washburn will host MIAA newcomer Lindenwood on Sunday at 2 p.m.
After a scoreless first half in which Truman outshot Washburn 5-4 and had an 7-3 advantage in corner kicks in the frame, the Bulldogs took advantage of a clearing mistake by the Lady Blues (3-10-0, 3-5-0 MIAA) and Megan Frkovic scored from 15 yards out to put the Bulldogs up 1-0 in the 48th minute.
Truman (10-2-1, 6-1-0 MIAA) added another goal in the 74th minute after Kelsey Ridgway scored after a scrum from 10-yards out stretching the Bulldogs' lead to 2-0 and wrapping up the scoring.
Truman finished with an 11-9 advantage in shots and 8-6 lead in shots on goal.
Caysie Beetley led Washburn with three shots on goal and
Bailey Wobig had two and
Leah Talley added a solo shot on goal.
Tori Fuglister had six saves in net for the Lady Blues. Emily Bozdeck picked up the shutout for Truman collecting six saves.
