The No. 2-ranked Washburn Ichabods will face the Rockhurst Hawks in Kansas City as part of the Edward Jones CBE Hall of Fame Classic at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. The Washburn/Rockhurst match up will be a lead into the doubleheader of Texas A&M/Washington at 6:30 p.m. and Kansas/St. Louis game at 9 p.m. The Ichabods will continue their busy week at the St. Mary's Ratter Classic Nov. 23-24 in San Antonio, Texas where they will face the host squad Rattlers followed by Minnesota-Duluth on Nov. 24. Washburn is coming off an 85-51 win over Bethany while the Hawks fell to MIAA foe Missouri Western 60-45 on Nov. 17 in their last game.

• This is the 107th season of Ichabod basketball.
• The Ichabods are ranked No. 2 in the NABC preseason top 25 coaches poll and the coaches pick to win the MIAA this season. Washburn was No. 4 in the Bulletin Preseason Poll.

• He is in his 34th season at the helm of the Ichabods.

Bob Chipman is a 1973 graduate of Kansas State earning both his undergraduate and master's degree in Manhattan.

Rockhurst head coach Bill O'Connor . . .
• is 255-60 in his 19th season at Rockhurst. He has been coaching basketball on the high school, junior college and college level for the past 38 years.
• O'Connor is the winningest coach in the history of Rockhurst basketball with 255 victories. Eight of his teams have qualified for postseason play, while 11 of his teams at Rockhurst have won 15 or more games in a season.
• A graduate of Rockhurst High School, O'Connor received a B.S. in history from St. Benedict's College (now Benedictine College) in 1972. He earned his master's in education from Emporia State University.
• Before being named the head coach at Rockhurst in 1994, O'Connor was the head coach at Colby (Kan.) Community College. He was an assistant coach at Rockhurst from 1982-86 and coached at Texas-Pan American..

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The No. 2-ranked Washburn Ichabods picked up an 85-51 over the Bethany Swedes in Lee Arena on Monday night and will have a quick turn around as they will face Rockhurst in the Sprint Center at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in Kansas City.
Washburn led the entire way as they opened the game with a 21-9 run over the first 7:42 of the game going on to lead by as many as 19 in the first half at 44-25 with 55 seconds left in the opening stanza. The Ichabods forced 14 first half turnovers leading to 16 points as they went on to take a 44-27 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Ichabods held the Swedes to only eight field goals as Bethany was 8 of 36 from the field including 3 of 14 from 3-point range as Washburn pushed out to a 35 point lead with 3:07 to play in the game. Washburn was 43 percent from the field hitting 15 of 35 shots in the second half.

Martin Mitchell tied a career-high with 18 points and set a new high with six rebounds. Mitchell led four Ichabods in double figures as
Zack Riggins and
Will McNeill scored 12 each and
Bobby Chipman and

Alex North had a game-high eight rebounds with six offensive boards. Trey Beachum had 10 to lead the Swedes as the only Bethany player to reach double digits.
Washburn had a 51 to 39 edge on the glass with 21 coming on the offensive end leading to 26 second chance points. Overall the Swedes had 20 turnovers while the Ichabods committed 10.

Nov. 17 - Missouri Western rallied from a nine-point deficit to defeat Rockhurst 60-45 Saturday night at the Hillyard Classic in St. Joseph, Mo. The loss drops the Hawks to 1-3 on the season.
The Griffons shot 59.1 percent in the second half to overcome a 41-32 deficit with 16 minutes left to play. Rockhurst was held to five-of-27 shooting in the final 20 minutes. The Hawks took a 31-26 lead into halftime.
Brandon McCann paced the Hawks with 10 points. David Wingerson scored eight points. B.J. Dunbar added seven points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Last meeting with Rockhurst
TOPEKA - Dec. 5, 2004 -- The No. 3 ranked Washburn Ichabods had their 24-game homecourt winning streak snapped as Rockhurst's Mike Day hit a 3-pointer with one second remaining to give the Hawks an 84-83 win. Adding to the Ichabods' woes was a 1-for-6 performance from the free throw line the last 43 seconds of the game.
In the second half, the Ichabods trailed for much of the half as Rockhurst built a lead of six with 14:24 to play. However the Ichabods rallied to regain the lead at 58-57 with 10:22 remaining. In the final four minutes, the Ichabods and the Hawks traded the lead eight times. Kris Milburn's 3-pointer gave the Ichabods an 82-79 lead with 1:21 to play. The lead was cut to one on a John Torson tip-in.
The Ichabods hit 1-of-2 free throws leading to game-winner by Day for the Hawks.
The Ichabods' had there 24-game homecourt winning streak snapped. It was the second longest streak in the nation trailing Metro State, who had a 25-game winning streak.
Travis Robbins recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Also in double figures were Karlton Mims with 12 and Randy Brown scoring 11 off the bench.
