The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team returns home for the first time this season to open MIAA play against the Emporia State Hornets in the Turnpike Tussle soccer style. Washburn is looking for its first win of the season at 0-4-0 while the Hornets are 2-2. The match is the conference opener for ESU as well.

Last Meeting with the Hornets
TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues wrapped up their home slate with a 1-1 score with Emporia State. In the two overtime periods each team recorded a shot with both of Emporia State shots being on goal.
After a scoreless first half, Washburn got on the board with
Caysie Beetley's third goal of the season in the 58th minute on a double pass from
Leah Talley then to
Tia Stovall who conected with Beetley from 12-yards out on her shot into the corner of the net.
The Hornets (2-8-5, 1-5-1 MIAA) knotted the score in the 76th minute when Karson Wilson connected on a corner kick from Mindi Lozenski.
In the first half Washburn (1-11-3, 1-4-2 MIAA) outshot the Hornets 6 to 2 in the first half while taking four corners compared to just one for Emporia State. In the second half, Emporia State outshot the Lady Blues 9 to 6 as the teams entered overtime.
For the match Washburn outshot Emporia State 14 to 3 as each team recorded five shots on goal. Henry led the Lady Blues with four shots and Beetley and Stovall each recorded three shots.
Tori Fuglister recorded four saves in net for the Lady Blues playing all 110 minutes.

GOLDEN, Colo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues were shutout by Colorado Mines Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 loss to the Orediggers.
Colorado Mines took a 2-0 lead into the break after goals in the 11th and 29th minutes as they outshot the Lady Blues 17-0 in the first half.
The Orediggers (3-1) kept the pressure on in the second half recording 14 shots with six on goal.
Tori Fuglister had 13 saves for the Lady Blues in the match, which was a career high.
