WU is looking for its 1st MIAA tourney title. The Ichabods are 6-7 all-time in 7 appearances. The tourney was held until 2007 and then revived last year.

The Ichabods are 1-1 against NWMSU with a win in 2006 and loss in 1992.

Washburn is 5-2 in the opening round, 6-2 at home, 1-2 as the No. 2 seed and 1-0 against the No. 7 seed in tournament history.

The Ichabods were the No. 2 seed last year and beat FHSU at home in the 1st round before losing to UCM in the 2nd round at UNK.

Marissa Cox hit .500 in the 2 matches last year and tied a school tournament record with 27 kills against FHSU. She hit .641 that match.

Washburn wrapped up its third MIAA regular season titles in the last four years with a 15-1 league record. The Bods and UCM shared those three titles.

Washburn has won five MIAA titles (2002, 2005, 2010, 2011 and 2012).
Cox hit .359 last week with 4.78 kills a set to earn MIAA hitter of the week for the second straight week and 5th time this year.

Washburn has won 10 straight matches with sweeps in six of those contests.  Cox is hitting .393 in the 10 matches with 4.09 kills a set.

WU beat UNK in 5 sets twice this year and UNK was in the top 10 both times. The win at UNK last Tuesday was Washburn's first 0-2 comeback since 2011.

Kelsey Lewis is 11th at Washburn with 1,377 digs and 5th with 3.67 per set.

Bods host Bearcats Tuesday to start road to first MIAA tourney championship
Eighth-ranked Washburn will head to the MIAA postseason tournament as the No. 2 seed and host seventh-seeded Northwest Missouri Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Schendel Court in Lee Arena. The winner will advance to the semifinals and final played Friday and Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed.

The winner of Washburn's match will play Friday against the winner of the No. 3 Nebraska-Kearney/No. 6 Missouri Western match. Central Missouri earned the No. 1 seed and will play No. 8 Pittsburg State Tuesday. The Jennies would host the final two rounds with a win or Washburn would host with a win and UCM loss. The UCM/PSU winner will play the winner of the No. 4 Central Oklahoma/No. 5 Emporia State match.

The Ichabods and Jennies shared their third MIAA title in the last four years with identical 15-1 conference records. The Jennies won the only regular season meeting to earn the tie-breaker.
