TOPEKA, Kan. – Four of Washburn's 10 players scored in double figures and two had double-doubles as Washburn beat Livin' The Dream 87-62 Saturday afternoon in an exhibition.

The Ichabods won their first preseason game since 2007 and will begin the year next Saturday against fourth-ranked Nova Southeastern in the NSU Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Washburn is ranked 22nd in the national preseason poll to set up the top-25 battle.

Casyn Buchman led Washburn with 23 points and she added 10 rebounds for a double-double. Both of those totals would have been career highs in a regular season game for the junior.
Brittney Lynch also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. The rebound total would have been a career high.

Washburn got 54 points in the paint led by its top two post players.
Kara Lee scored 20 for the Ichabods as she was 9 of 12 from the field and Honor Duval was 7 of 11 off the bench for 15 points.

Washburn jumped to a 15-5 lead for its first double-digit lead of the game. Livin' The Dream cut it to single digits multiple times after that and was only six points down, 38-32 with 2:02 left in the first half. A 3-pointer from Buchman and then a lay-up from Lee after that gave Washburn a 43-32 halftime lead.

Livin' The Dream cut the lead to six early in the second half but a basket by Lynch at 14:25 put the Ichabods up by double figures for good after that. A 9-0 run gave Washburn its first 20-point lead of the game at 64-44 with 9:44 to go. Washburn led by at least 20 the final five minutes and held its largest lead, 27 points at 83-56 with 2:08 to go after a
Haley Pfau hit a 3-pointer.

Washburn shot 46 percent in the game but was just 3 of 18 from 3-point range and 54 percent from the free throw line. Livin' The Dream shot 30 percent as a team and 69 percent from the line. Each team shot 26 free throws.

Washburn led in rebounds by nearly double LTD's total, 61-33 to give the Ichabods a 25-6 advantage in second chance points.

Livin' The Dream, made up of former college players including five from MIAA teams, was led by Chazny Morris with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Cassondra Boston had 17 points.

Washburn won its last exhibition in 2007, also against Livin' The Dream. This was the first preseason game played in Lee Arena since a loss to the men's golf team in 2008.
