TOPEKA, Kan. – The Ichabods trailed at halftime and didn't build a double-digit lead until the 6:09 mark of the second half as they eventually won by eight, 74-66 Thursday night against Lincoln at Schendel Court in Lee Arena.

The Ichabods played their first game in 12 days and improved to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA. Washburn will resume MIAA action at home Sunday at 1 p.m. against Lindenwood. Lincoln fell to 3-8 and 0-4 in the league as Washburn remained perfect in the all-time series against the Blue Tigers, 23-0.

The Ichabods went up by a game-high 15 with 4:16 remaining in the game but then went scoreless until the last 30 seconds. Fortunately, the Blue Tigers didn't get any closer than seven points down and couldn't pose a threat.

Kara Lee hit a pair of three throws with 30 seconds left that gave the Ichabods a 72-62 cushion and then
Casyn Buchman's layup with 15 seconds left sealed it.

Buchman reached the 20-point mark for the fifth time this year with 21 points. She was 8 of 13 from the field and went 4 of 6 from the free throw line. She made her first three free throw shots but missed her fourth to end her consecutive free throw streak at 32 straight makes. She hadn't missed since November 16. The MIAA and Washburn record was set by Nikki Olberding with 36 straight makes in 1997-98.

Four other Ichabods joined Buchman in double figures. Lee made her first start at center since the season opener and scored 13 points. She was 5 of 10 from the field and 3 of 4 from the line. She had four rebounds and blocked three shots.
Brittney Lynch had her fourth double-double of the year with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Taylor Ignoto made her Washburn debut and played her first game since she was an All-American at Mineral Area Community College in 2011-12. She scored 14 points off a 4 of 9 performance and she was 5 of 6 from the line.
Janelle Travis rounded out the double-figure scoring with 11 points and a team-high three 3-pointers.

Lincoln went scoreless for over four minutes in the first half but the Ichabods didn't score for three of those minutes. The Blue Tigers finally broke their streak with a layup by Quiessence Prince at 11:24 to trail by just two and then they went ahead a minute later on a 3-pointer by Jennifer Rosado. They led by as much as seven in the final minutes of the first half and led 35-31 at halftime.

Washburn went on a 21-4 run that started four minutes into the second period and ended with the Ichabods turning an eight-point deficit into a nine-point lead at 59-50 with 7:44 remaining. Buchman scored nine points during the run.

The Ichabods then built their lead into double figures and kept it their until the final minutes.

Washburn shot 46 percent from the field and made 5 of 12 3-pointers. The Blue Tigers shot 43 percent overall but made 14 of 25 3-pointers. That wasn't enough to make up for Washburn making 19 free throws while Lincoln made six.

The Ichabods led in rebounding 35-32 and had 13 turnovers while the Blue Tigers had 19. Washburn also led in blocks, 6-1 and 7-5 in steals.

The Blue Tigers had four players reach double figures in scoring. Rosado led with 24 points as she was 6 of 8 from 3-point range. Hunter Yoakum hit 4 3-pointers and scored 14 points and Quiessence also had 14 points.
