TOPEKA, Kan. – Washburn jumped to a 14-1 lead and kept Northeastern State to under 20 points each half in a 60-37 win Saturday night at Schendel Court in Lee Arena.

The Ichabods wrapped up a five-game home stand with their fifth straight win and improved to 12-5 overall and 7-3 in the MIAA. They're alone in fourth in the conference standings as they passed the halfway point of MIAA play. They'll play six of their final nine games on the road starting Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against Nebraska-Kearney.

Taylor Ignoto led Washburn with 15 points. She hit 3-pointers on Washburn's first two possessions and then Jannelle Travis hit a 3-pointer soon after that to give Washburn an 11-0 lead.
Casyn Buchman added a 3-pointer and then Travis hit a jumper to give Washburn a 16-3 lead.

The strong start held up the entire opening half as Washburn shot 56 percent from the field and 53 percent (8 of 15) from long range. Both teams struggled offensively in the second half but Washburn never let the RiverHawks get closer than the 21-point advantage that the Ichabods had at halftime.

Travis shot 5 of 7 from the field and 4 of 6 from long range for 14 points. Buchman added nine points and
Brittney Lynch had 13 rebounds.

Washburn shot just 23 percent in the second half to end the game shooting 40 percent. The RiverHawks shot 28 percent in the game and 18 percent from 3-point range. Just 21 fouls were committed between the two teams and 19 free throws were shot as the game was completed in under 90 minutes.

Travis hit a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left in the first half to give the Ichabods a 40-19 halftime lead. A 6-0 run midway through the second half gave Washburn a game-high 30-point lead at 54-24 with 8:10 to play. Duvall scored four points during that run and ended with nine points to lead the bench.

Chelsey Beathard was Northeastern State's only double figure scorer with 10 points.

The 37 points Northeastern State scored was the fewest allowed by Washburn in an MIAA game since giving up just 34 to Fort Hays State in 2006-07. Northeastern State's total was its lowest since scoring just 35 against Southwestern Oklahoma in 1998-99.
