The Ichabods will play their first of two road games this week at Heartland Conference schools when they tip off at Oklahoma Christian Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

The Ichabods remained undefeated at 4-0 after a thrilling 87-79 win over third-ranked Drury in overtime Tuesday. Casyn Buchman scored 10 points in the overtime and finished with a career-high 28. Ally Nikkel had career highs of 13 points and five assists.

Oklahoma Christian is 2-2 after a 94-48 win Saturday over Science and Arts (Okla.). The Eagles lost Thursday to Texas Wesleyan. They are in their third year of transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II.

The two schools played the first game in series history last season with Washburn winning 79-66 on January 9 in Topeka.

Micro-Blogging the Bods
The Ichabods will play their first ever game at Oklahoma Christian when they play the Eagles Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Eagles Nest. It's the first of two road games this week at Heartland Conference schools.
The Ichabods upset third-ranked Drury 87-79 in overtime Saturday in Lee Arena. Casyn Buchman had a career-high 28 points and she scored 10 points in overtime.
Oklahoma Christian is in its third year of transition to NCAA II. The Eagles were an NAIA school.
Buchman was 9 of 18 from the field in the Drury game. She scored 14 in the second half and then made 6 of 6 free throws in the final 33 seconds of the overtime. She had nine rebounds.
Ally Nikkel set a career high with 13 points as she was 5 of 8 from the field. She tied her career high with five assists, a total she reached earlier this year against PR-Rio Piedras.
Taylor Ignoto scored in double figures the first three games off the bench. She got her first start of the year Saturday vs Drury and scored 20 points.
The Bods lead the MIAA holding opponents to .269 shooting from the field and .222 shooting from 3-point range. They're second allowing just 48.0 points a game.
Ron McHenry is in his 15th season as coach. He has gone 362-82 since 2000 and has won eight MIAA titles with 12 NCAA tournament appearances. He coached the team to the 2004-05 national championship.
The Ichabods were picked third in the MIAA preseason coaches poll with three first-place votes. They went 16-11 overall last year and finished 6th in the league at 11-8.

Ichabods near the top in several MIAA defensive categories
The Ichabods enter the third week of the season at or near the top in several MIAA defensive categories. They lead the league holding opponents to just .269 shooting from the field and .222 shooting from 3-point range. They are second allowing just 48.0 points a game and second with a +28.8 scoring margin. They lead the league collecting 52.8 rebounds a game and are second with a +20.2 rebounding margin.

Dana Channel leads the team and is seventh in the MIAA averaging 8.0 rebounds a game. Casyn Buchman is 14th with 6.8 and Jayna Smith is 16th with 6.5 a game.

Junior achievement
The seven juniors on the 2013-14 team accounted for 81 percent of Washburn's scoring and 79 percent of Washburn's individual rebounding. All four of Washburn's double-figure scorers came from the group, as did the top three rebounders. At least one junior led the team in scoring every game and in rebounding in all but two games. Kara Lee, the lone senior on the team, was the top non-junior contributor with 9.1 points a game and 4.4 rebounds. Freshmen and sophomores contributed six percent of the scoring and nine percent of the rebounding.

Coaches pick Bods third in MIAA preseason poll; WU earns three first-place votes
The Ichabods earned three first-place votes and were picked to finish third overall in the MIAA preseason coaches poll released October 22.

Washburn had 142 points in the poll while No. 2 Pittsburg State earned 153 points and five of the 14 first-place votes. Emporia State earned 160 points and five first-place votes and was picked to win the conference. Fort Hays State was picked fourth with the final first-place vote and defending champion Central Missouri was picked fifth.

Don't forget - Season highlights
- Washburn's 93-35 win Nov. 16 against PR-Rio Piedras was the school's second largest against an NCAA school. The 62 rebounds was the largest against an NCAA school.
- WU outscored Benedictine 48-4 in the paint on Nov. 18.

Up next for Washburn
The Ichabods will play another Heartland Conference team on the road Saturday when they face Newman at 3 p.m. They'll then start MIAA play on December 4 at home against Southwest Baptist. Washburn will be making its first trip to Newman since 1975-76.

This Year: The Eagles are 2-2 after beating Science and Arts (Okla.) 94-48 on Saturday. They are averaging 81.0 points a game while giving up 67.5 a game. Sophomore forward McKenzie Stanford leads the team with 17.0 points and 5.5 rebounds a game. She shoots .469 from the field. Two others are averaging in double figures. The Eagles played MIAA opponent Central Oklahoma earlier this year and lost, 88-75.
Series History: Washburn won the only meeting between these two schools, 79-66 last year in Topeka.
Head Coach Stephanie Findley: 562-361 (.609) in 30th season at OCU and overall. She holds the record for most wins by a four-year women's coach in the state of Oklahoma. She led the Eagles to 13 NAIA tournaments before the team started transitioning to NCAA II two years ago. She is a 1982 graduate of Oklahoma Christian and she coached her first year in 1985-86 after serving as an assistant for three years.
