Ichabods back to winning ways with win over Eagles

HILO, Hawaii -- The Washburn Ichabods wrapped up the Hilo portion of their Hawaiian get-away with an 80-59 win over Northwest Indian College (Wash.) on Wednesday afternoon. Washburn will take Thanksgiving off and wrap up the trip with a Friday game against BYU-Hawaii.

Jeremy Lickteig led the Ichabods with a career-high 19 points going 9 of 10 from the field leading three others in double figures with Christian Ulsaker, who added a career-high 17 points on 8 of 13 shooting adding a team-high nine rebounds and Algie Key added 10 points with six rebounds.

Washburn (3-4) trailed only by one point in the game at 7-6 and the lead lasted for 23 seconds as Washburn built a 25-point lead taking a 50-25 advantage into the break. Washburn shot 65 percent from the field in the opening stanza hitting 22 of 34 shots holding the Eagles to 10 of 33 shooting.

In the second half, Northwest Indian (0-4) outscored the Ichabods 34-30 in the half improving to 13 of 30 shooting while the Ichabods struggled from the field going 0 of 15 from 3-point range.

Washburn stretched its lead to as many as 36 in the game before the Eagles finished with a 20-5 run over the final 6:34 of the game cutting the final margin to 21.

Washburn held a 48 to 39 advantage on the glass.
