EDMOND, Okla. – Brittney Lynch had a career-high 22 points and Washburn made a late run to beat Central Oklahoma 63-59  Thursday at Hamilton Field House. The win ended a three-game losing streak and improved Washburn to 14-8 overall and 9-6 in the MIAA.
 
The Ichabods will continue their Oklahoma swing with a game Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Northeastern State.
 
Lynch went 9 of 11 from the field to set a career high for field goals made and break her previous career high of 20 points scored against Southwest Baptist earlier this year. She also added her second straight double-double with 13 rebounds and she's scored in double figures in five straight games. She's 27 of 39 in the last five games to shoot 69 percent from the field and average 14.0 points and 10.0 rebounds a game.
 
Allyssa Nikkel made her first career start and also set a career high with nine points. She was 2 of 4 from the field and 4 of 4 from the free throw line.
 
Kara Lee's layup with 6:06 to play tied the game at 54-54 but that was Washburn's final field goal of the game. The Ichabods won the game at the line as they then made 7 of 8 free throws, the last with 19 seconds left to give Washburn a 61-59 lead.
 
Britney Morgan then made a free throw with 14 seconds left to pull the Bronchos within two. She missed the second one and Washburn got the rebound out of bounds. Lynch was then fouled and she made two free throws with six seconds remaining to put Washburn up by four, 63-59. The Bronchos missed a late 3-pointer and Washburn held on. UCO committed four turnovers the final three minutes.
 
The Ichabods' four-point win was their largest lead of the game. The game featured seven lead changes and 12 ties and no team led by more than four in the second half. The Bronchos had a nine-point lead, their largest of the game at 25-16 with 11:23 to go in the first, before the Ichabods erased it with a 12-2 lead run. The final points of the run, two free throws from Nikkel, gave Washburn its first lead at 28-27.
 
Besides the final two minutes, Washburn led for just 3:37 the rest of the game.

Washburn shot 58 percent in the first half but lost the turnover battle 10-3. Lynch shot 7 of 8 in the half and had 14 points at the break as she reached double figures for the fifth straight time. Buchman made 3 of 6 shots for 10 points and Nikkel was one away from her career high with seven points at the break.
 
The Ichabods then shot just 29 percent in the second half but the Bronchos were 26 percent. Washburn ended the game at 43 percent while UCO was 34 percent.
 
Buchman ended with 14 points and added five rebounds and a game-high six assists.
 
Washburn won the rebound battle 44-28 but had 21 turnovers while UCO had 14.
 
Jill Bryan, Julia Mason and Morgan all had 14 points to tie for the UCO lead. Mason led her team with just five rebounds.
