HAYS, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods split an MIAA doubleheader with No. 13-ranked Fort Hays State winning the opener 6-3 before falling in the nightcap 4-2. Washburn (10-4, 6-2 MIAA) will face Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday in a pair of games in Kearney.

Game 1 - WU 6, FHSU 3
The Ichabods won their eight-straight game coming from behind for the 6-3 win. Washburn was down 2-0 after two innings but scored two in the top of the third after an RBI triple by Samantha Carson which scored Bre Hixon who walked and then Carson would come around on an RBI single by Deidra Jones. Washburn added a solo run in the fourth inning on a home run by Jordan Erickson pushing Washburn's lead up to 3-2. In the fifth inning, Marina Quimby recorded a two-out double scoring Alex Sweeney and Shelby Erickson stretching the lead to 5-2. Washburn added an unearned run in the top of the sixht after a double by Jordan Erickson who was sent home by Katie Schroeder. The Tigers added a solo run in the bottom of the seventh. Kaylee Erickson improved to 2-1 allowing only one earned run scattering five hits. Shelby Erickson, Jones and Jordan Erickson each had two hits and Quimby drove in two.

Game 2 - FHSU 4, WU 2
The Tigers took advantage of three Washburn errors scoring an unearned run in the first and two more unearned runs in the fifth leading to the 4-2 win. Washburn scored its runs on an RBI single by Quimby which scored Shelby Erickson in the top of the fourth and on a home run Quimby in the top of the seventh. The Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth with two coming unearned. Quimby finished with three hits while driving in both runs. Carson (4-1) suffered her first loss of the season in the circle striking out three with only one of the runs coming as earned.
