The Ichabods (14-5, 6-5 MIAA) host sixth-ranked Fort Hays State Saturday at 5 p.m. at Schendel Court in Lee Arena. It will be a Go Blue game and fans should wear their blue Washburn gear.
The Ichabods won 68-61 in overtime Thursday at home against Nebraska-Kearney. The Tigers (19-1, 11-0 MIAA) won their 18th straight game after upsetting No. 2 Emporia State Wednesday.
The two teams each won their home game in last year's series. The Bods lead the all-time series 46-27 and are 23-12 at home against the Tigers. Their last home loss to FHSU was 1994-95.
Casyn Buchman has 105 career 3-pointers and needs three more to move into the Washburn top 10.
The Ichabods improved to 7-0 this year in midweek games. They are 5-4 on Saturdays.
The Bods were third in the last NCAA report with a +12.4 RB margin, eighth allowing opponents .348 shooting and 11th allowing 56.1 points a game.
The Bods have kept opponents to under 40% shooting 13 times and under 30% six times.
Casyn Buchman was 28th in the nation and first in the MIAA shooting .885 from the free throw line. She's 54 of 61 overall and 30 of 33 in the MIAA games.
Taylor Ignoto has reached double figures in 15 of her 18 games. She's first on the team and 11th in the MIAA (in the latest report) with 13.9 points a game.
The Ichabods fell out of the USA Today Sports national poll two weeks ago but have received votes in the two polls since then. Emporia State is No. 2, Fort Hays State is sixth and Pitt State is ninth.
Ron McHenry is in his 15th season as coach. He has gone 372-87 since 2000 and has won eight MIAA titles with 12 NCAA tournament appearances. He coached the team to the 2004-05 national championship.
Ichabods host sixth-ranked Fort Hays State Saturday in GO BLUE gameThe Ichabods will play their first of two straight top-10 opponents Saturday at 5 p.m. when they host No. 6 Fort Hays State at Schendel Court in Lee Arena.
The Ichabods improved to 14-5 overall and 6-5 in the MIAA with a 68-61 overtime win Thursday against Nebraska-Kearney. The Tigers upset No. 2 Emporia State Wednesday to win their 18th straight and improve to 19-1 and 11-0 in the league. Washburn will play at ESU Wednesday.
Saturday's game is a GO BLUE game and fans are encouraged to wear Washburn blue or get to the game early and pick up a free t-shirt. America's Got Talent finalist Bruce Creviar and his Spin-tacular Basketball Show are back for a third straight year and will perform at halftime.

Casyn Buchman is 11th in school career history with 105 3-pointers and she needs three more to move into the top 10. She's sixth with an .806 free throw percentage and 19th with 248 career assists. Buchman is 29th with 901 career points.
Buchman's .885 free throw percentage this year would rank first in school single-season history but she is 11 makes shy of the minimum. She's 54 of 61 from the line this year and needs 65 makes to enter the record book. She in .909 from the line in MIAA games this year as she made her first 24 attempts. Last year she had a streak of 32 straight makes from the line.
Strong defense key to Bod victoriesJust six opponents have shot above 40 percent against the Ichabods this year including three of the five teams that beat Washburn this year.
The Bods are 11-2 when keeping their opponents to under 40 percent shooting and their 3-3 when their opponent shoots above 40 percent.
Washburn is holding opponents to .332 shooting in games won and .419 shooting in the five losses. The Bods have kept six of their opponents to under 30 percent shooting. Benedictine shot a season-low .170 against Washburn while Northwest Missouri has the season high of 50 percent shooting in a Washburn win January 10.

Washburn was picked third in the MIAA preseason coaches poll. The Bods earned three first-place votes. Emporia State was picked first and Pittsburg State was second.
Washburn's 93-35 win Nov. 16 against PR-Rio Piedras was the school's second largest against an NCAA school. The 62 rebounds was the largest against an NCAA school.
WU outscored Benedictine 48-4 in the paint on Nov. 18.
Casyn Buchman's free throw in the final seconds Nov. 22 against Drury sent the game to overtime. She scored 10 points in overtime to help WU beat No. 3 Drury, 87-79. She had a career-high 28 points.
Taylor Ignoto averaged 20.5 points and shot 72 percent Nov. 25-29 to earn MIAA player of the week.
Washburn's 40 points scored at Pittsburg State Jan. 17 was the school's lowest output since scoring 40 in 1999-00.
Washburn led at some point with under five minutes remaining in the first three losses this season.
The seven juniors on the 2013-14 team had 81 percent of Washburn's scoring and 79 percent of the individual rebounding. Six of those seven juniors are back this year as seniors. A junior led the team in scoring every game last year and in rebounding in all but two games.
Up next for WashburnThe Ichabods will return to the road Wednesday when they play at 5:30 p.m. at second-ranked Emporia State. This will be the Lady Hornets' third straight home game. Washburn has lost two straight in White Auditorium.
