KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Washburn's
David Gauntt and
Kyle Carnahan each hit 3-run homers against Truman on Thursday afternoon but it was not enough as the Ichabods dropped a 10-6 non-conference decision to the Bulldogs. Washburn opens a four-game series at Lindenwood starting on Friday in St. Charles, Mo.
Gauntt put the Ichabods (18-6) on the board with a 3-run homer in the third inning scoring
Riley Krane and
Kyle Carnahan who singled and doubled in the inning putting Washburn up 3-2. The Ichabods went up 6-2 after Carnahan's 3-run homer in the fourth scoring Krane and
Tanner Johnson who both walked.
However the Bulldogs (14-4) came back with four runs in the bottom of the fourth and added four more in the bottom of the fifth gong up 10-6 as neither team would score of the final four innings.
Carnahan finished with three hits to lead the Ichabods who finished with six hits compared to the Bulldogs' 11 hits.
Reed Morton took the los droping to 0-1 on the season for the Ichabods.
