ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod baseball team lost 10-9 in 10 innings in the series opener at Lindenwood on Friday night. The Ichabods will play two games on Saturday and wrap the four-game series on Sunday in a single game.
The Ichabods took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI double by
Corey Gragg scoring
David Gauntt who walked to lead off the inning and then Gragg scored on an RBI single by
Tanner Johnson.Â
The Ichabods went up 8-0 with six runs in the fifth inning including a grand slam by
Tanner Triggs scoring
Riley Krane who singled,
Kyle Carnahan who tripled, Gauntt who walked and
Connor Crimmins who reached after getting hit by a pitch.
Payton Soicher scored on a sac fly and then Carnahan drove in
Parker Gibson who singled. However the Lions came back with six in the sixth inning scoring all six runs after a Washburn error leading to unearned runs for the Lions.
The Lions scored three more in the sixth to tie the score at 9-9.Â
Neither team scored until the Lions put their lead off runner on with a double. After an intentional walk, the Lions recorded a fly out for their first out. The Ichbods intentionally walked another runner to load the bases and a single by the Lions was the game winner.
Carnahan finished with three hits and Triggs had two hits and 4 RBI. Gragg finished with 2 hits.
Tanner Kilmer pitched 4 1/3 innings taking the loss striking out two.
Dan Gabler pitched five innings and allowed two earned runs. The Ichabods recorded four errors in the game.
