TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods fell 7-3 in the final game of the four game series with Central Missouri on Sunday afternoon as the Mules took 3 of 4 games from the Ichabods. Washburn will host Emporia State in a non-conference game on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Mules (23-16, 18-10 MIAA) scored three in first and added single runs in the second, third and fourth innings jumping out to a 6-0 lead over Washburn (22-16, 15-13 MIAA).
Washburn got on the board in the fourth inning when
Corey Gragg drove in
David Gauntt who reached on a fielder's choice cutting the lead to 6-1.
In the sixth the Ichabods added two more after a
Connor Crimmins double scored Gauntt and then Gragg picked up his second RBI of the day with a single through the left side scoring Crimmins pulling Washburn within 6-3.
The Mules added one in the eighth to take a 7-3 lead however the Ichabods would go down in order in the eighth and ninth innings.
Crimmins had three of the Ichabods' six hits and Gragg finished with two hits driving in two runs.
Kyle Carnahan recorded one as well.
Eric Schmid took the loss falling to 4-2 on the season. Ricky Rivera pitched seven innings gaining the win improving to 6-2.
The Mules won three of four games in the series.
