Opening Tip
• The Washburn Ichabod men's basketball team returns to action this weekend at the 2016 Puerto Rico Clasico with three games starting with Northwood University (Mich.) on Nov. 23 followed by a Nov. 25 game vs Metropolitan University (San Juan) and then Lubbock Christian (Texas) on Nov. 26.
• Washburn is 3-0 this season after picking up a 93-72 win last time out over Rockhurst in its home opener on Nov. 19.
• The win improved the Ichabods to 32-1 all-time in home openers in Lee Arena.
• Washburn was picked second in the MIAA preseason coaches poll.
• This season will be
Bob Chipman's last season on the bench at Washburn … Chipman announced prior to the start of the season this year would be his last … Chipman has recorded a career-record of 791-343 at Washburn needing only 10 wins to reach 800 for his career becoming only the 14th coach to reach that milestone.

Last Time Out For The Ichabods
Washburn 93, rockhurst 72 -- Nov. 19, 2016
TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods shot a blistering 51 percent in the first half and improved to a ridiculous 65 percent in the second half rolling to a 93-72 win over Rockhurst in its home opener on Saturday in Lee Arena.
The Ichabods took a 43-38 lead into the break after the Hawks also hit more than half of their shots at 51 percent, but Washburn opened the second half on a 12-2 run to go up 15 at 55-40 with 17:29 to play in the game.
Javion Blake hit a pair of 3-pointers on assists from
Randall Smith, who finished with 14 assists in 23 minutes.
A mini 7-0 run by the Hawks cut the Ichabod lead to 10 with 8:25 to play at 70-60, but the Ichabods (3-0) pushed the lead back to as many as as 21 cruising to the 19-point win.
Blake and
Cameron Wiggins each had 23 points in the game and went a combined 9 of 13 from 3-point range. Wiggins finished 5 of 6 from behind the line and Blake was 4 of 7.
Brady Skeens scored 15 points hitting 7 of 8 shots from the field adding six rebounds, four blocks and three assists.
David Salach had 12 points with a team-high seven rebounds. The 14 assists by Smith were the most by an Ichabod since he recorded 16 against Missouri Southern last season.
Washburn outrebounded the Hawks (2-1) 38 to 24 and outscored Rockhurst 15-0 in fast break points.
The Ichabods finished the game shooting 57 percent from the field hitting 35 of 61 shots and 12 of 19 3-pointers for a 63 percent clip. Rockhurst was 46 percent from the field hitting 26 of 57 shots overall and 9 of 26 from 3-point range.

• The Thunderwolves are 0-4 this season entering the trip to San Juan.

(Nov. 19, 2016) MIDLAND, Mich. -- Cedarville scores the first two points of the game and never looked back, eventually taking a 41-32 lead to the locker room.
The Yellow Jackets eventually got into a groove hitting 50 percent from the floor (16-32) and three-point range (5-10). The Timberwolves shot 36 percent from the field (9-25), 40 percent mark from behind the arc (4-10) and 76.0 percent from the foul line (10-13).
The Timberwolves came out with the first five points of the half to again come close to tying the game trailing by four, but a subsequent 10-2 run by Cedarville lead to as much as 14 (60-46) with 12 minutes remaining.
Northwood caught fire after the ten-minute mark. An 11-0 run made it 60-57 as the home team came close once again with six minutes to play. As was the theme of the contest, however, when the Timberwolves came close, the Yellow Jackets found a way to pull away again, ending the game on a 13-4 run to win by 12.
Cedarville shot 35.5 percent from the field (11-31) including 44.4 percent from behind the arc (4-9) after the break. Northwood shot 31.0 percent in the second half (9-29) and 27.3 percent from three-point range (3-11).
About Metropolitan University
• Information about the school has been hard to track down.
• On Nov. 13, they defeated Concordia-St. Paul 83-73 and on Nov. 24 they will take on Tiffin (Ohio).
