At 5-6 in the conference, the Ichabods will be the sixth seed in the MIAA tournament and will take on third-seeded Northeastern State University. The match will take place Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
The Ichabods were shut out in the final two matches of the regular season, dropping from fifth to sixth place in the conference standings.
On Friday against Emporia State University, the Ichabods outshot the Hornets 17-11 for the match, but the Hornets were efficient with their shots, as all 11 of their shots were on goal.
Â
After a slow start where only one shot was taken in the first 12:16 of the match, the Hornets started the scoring in the 15th minute, as Olivia Miller put one past goalkeeper
Kaitlin Minnich to take a 1-0 lead.
Â
The Ichabods had many opportunities to score the equalizer in the first half, but had two shots blocked and another four saved by ESU goalkeeper Bethany Reeves.
Â
The Hornets found a groove offensively in the second half after taking just two shots in the first. Two of ESU's nine second-half shots found the back of the net, as Ashton Taylor scored in the 62nd minute and Kennedy Hoffman added the final blow in the 88th minute.
Â
Olivia Grasso led the Ichabods in shots with four, while
Ellie Karloff led in shots on goal with three.

The three-goal loss tied for the worst for Washburn in 2017, along with a 4-1 loss to Newman University on September 10. It was largest margin of defeat for the Ichabods in MIAA action.
On senior day Sunday, Jasmine Beaulieu of Fort Hays State University finally beat Minnich after 108 minutes of action, as the Ichabods lost 1-0 in double overtime.
The Ichabods had a rough second half of regulation offensively, unable to get a shot attempt in the period. Minnich kept the Ichabods in the match with a stellar goalkeeping effort, recording 10 saves.
With five shots in the first half, and two in the second overtime period, the Ichabods were outshot 20-7 for the match. It was the highest shot total deficit since they were outshot 30-4 by the University of Central Missouri.
Mackenzie Heiman had two shots on goal for the Ichabods, while
Olivia Grasso and
Paige Swanson added one each. Swanson's shot on a breakaway in the 105th minute was the Ichabods' best chance at a goal, but goalkeeper Megan Kneefel made a save with her legs to stop what would have been the match-winning goal.
Morgan El-Attrache, Minnich,
Kelly Schunk,
Olivia Stovall,
Emily Stauffer,
Rebecca Weimer and
Presley Wiggins were all honored before the match for their contributions to the Washburn women's soccer program.
In their only regular season matchup, the NSU RiverHawks defeated the Ichabods 1-0 at Yager Stadium.
