CANYON, Texas – The Washburn Ichabod softball struggled offensively as they were 0-3 on the first day of the West Texas A&M Invitational including a pair of losses to the No. 4-ranked West Texas A&M Lady Buffs. Washburn returns to the field with two more games on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. against Chadron State and Fort Lewis at 2 p.m.
Game 1 – Cameron 2, Washburn 1
The Ichabods took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning when
Megan Stegman tripled with one out and then would later score on a fielder's choice RBI by
Ashley Ruder.
However the Aggies came back with solo runs in the fifth and broke the tie with a solo run in the seventh for the 2-1 win.
Kelsee Henry struck out a season-high seven with only two walks scattering four hits in the loss.

Taylor Kemp,
Jordan Erickson and Stegman all had hits for Washburn in the game.
Game 2 - #4 West Texas A&M 8, Washburn 0 (5 innings)
The Lady Buffs scored four in the first inning and four more in the second en route to an 8-0 win over the Ichabods.
Savannah Moore,
Erica Harper and
Taylor Kemp had hits with Kemp's coming as a double.
Taylor Kemp took the loss in the circle and
Samantha Carson pitched three scoreless innings in relief.
Game 3 - #4 West Texas A&M 9, Washburn 0 (5 innings)
The Ichabods gave up solo runs in the first and second innings and then broke it open with three runs in the third and four more in the fourth inning leading to the 9-0 win. The No. 4-ranked Lady Buffs had nine hits.
Washburn finished with five hits in the game with

Dakota Sanders.
Samantha Carson started the game pitching 2 and 1/3 innings taking the loss.
