TOPEKA, Kan. ---- Offensive struggles doomed Washburn baseball on Saturday as it was outhit, 10-4, en route to a 3-1 loss to Southwest Baptist. The result now drops the Ichabods to 19-15 overall and 11-12 in the MIAA.

WU was left hitless until the eighth when
Dylan Lonteen led off the inning with a home run trimming the Southwest Baptist advantage to 3-1. The one-run shot was the freshman's second blast of the season. The Ichabods then looked like they would begin to fight back as
Lance Barkley and
Landon Hay found themselves on base following a pair of singles however hopes for a late rallies were clipped short.

The Bearcats began piecing their advantage together with a run in the second before being limited to just one run in the fifth and eighth despite bases loaded situations.

Barkley was issued the loss as he worked 7.1 innings with three runs, two earned while scattering seven hits.
Zach Linquist closed the afternoon as he pitched 1.2 scoreless innings while recording a strikeout with no SBU batters reaching base.

Darian Abram finished with two walks while
Gabe Franklin reached on a hit.
Bowe Behymer saw the end of an eight-game hit streak but was able to stretch his reached base streak to 16 thanks to walk.

The Ichabods will close the series with SBU on Sunday at 1 p.m. Prior to the finale Washburn will recognize the career and contributions of its many seniors.
