NOTES | WBB host Southwest Baptist in MIAA Tournament opener

TIPPING OFF
• Washburn women's basketball begins postseason play on Monday when it hosts Southwest Baptist in the first round of the MIAA Tournament at Lee Arena at 7 pm.
• WU finished the regular season 19-9 overall, and secured the No. 7-seed into the tournament with an 11-8 record.
• Southwest Baptist is the No. 10-seed.
• The Ichabods closed the regular season by winning five of their last six games.

MIAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
• Washburn is 37-17 all-time in the MIAA Tournament.
• Since 2014, WU is 0-4 at home in first round games.
• For the third straight season WU qualifies for the MIAA tournament as the No. 7-seed and is 0-5 all-time at that seeding.
• WU has 12 MIAA titles.
• WU's last MIAA Tournament crown was 2011-12.
• Shelley Foster is Washburn's all-time leading scorer in MIAA Tournament history with 213 points.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
• This is the 34th season that Washburn men's and women's basketball have called Lee Arena home, with women's basketball owning a 412-94 mark (.818) in the venue.
• The 500th women's game at Lee Arena was played this season against Northeastern State (1/11).
• Since 2000-01, Washburn is 217-46 all-time when playing at Lee Arena under Ron McHenry.
• Washburn is 11-4 this season playing at Lee Arena.
• WU ranked sixth in Div. II in attendance last season as it averaged 1,468 fans through 18 games. The Ichabods have been among nation's top drawing teams finishing in the top 10 since the 2000-01 campaign.

ABOUT SOUTHWEST BAPTIST
• The Bearcats are 15-13 overall and finished 7-12 in the MIAA.
• SBU closed the regular season on a five-game losing streak including three on the road.
• The Bearcats are 4-8 on the road this season.
• Among the MIAA, SBU tops the league in FT% (.841), made FTs (470) while its 559 FT attempts is second most ... second in scoring offense (76.6), ninth in rebounds a game (37.7), 10th in FG% (.408) and 12th in scoring defense (71.3).
• Megan Rosenbohm tops the MIAA in per game scoring (19.8), FT% (.913), and steals (2.9/game) while being tied for second among conference leaders in assists per game (3.7).
• Caylee Richardson is fifth in the MIAA in rebounding with 8.8 a game while averaging 15.9 points for ninth on the league chart.
• Head coach Kelsey Keizer is in her fourth season with SBU. 

A LIL' BIT OF HISTORY
• Monday marks the 57th all-time meeting between Washburn and Southwest Baptist and third time this season.
• The Ichabods lead the all-time series, 41-15, and swept the season series.
• Monday will also be the 10th occasion the teams have squared off in postseason play alone.
• WU is 6-3 all-time against SBU in MIAA Tournament action dating back to 1992.
• The Ichabods has dropped the last two home MIAA Tournament first round meetings against the Bearcats having lost in 2014 (85-73) and 2017 (68-56).

• The winner of No. 7 Washburn vs. No. 10 Southwest Baptist with advance to Kansas City and Municipal Auditorium, where it will play No. 3-seed Pittsburg State on Thursday, March 1 at 2:30 pm.
