KEARNEY, Neb. – The Washburn Ichabod women's cross country team finished eighth at the MIAA Championships at the Kearney Country Club on Saturday. Washburn finished with 183 team points in the event. The Ichabods will be back in action in two weeks at the NCAA Central Regional in Joplin, Mo.
Sierra Mortensen led the Ichabods with a 12
th-place finish earning all-MIAA honors for the fourth time in her career becoming the first Ichabod – male or female – to earn conference honors four times. She finished in a time of 22:59.66 on the 6K course.
Patricia Koma finished with in 25
th with a time of 23:28.80 and
Lily Johnson was 30
th in 23:35.97.
Eve Weber placed 61
st overall in a time of 24:39.52 while
Dulce Ayala Chanez was 67
th (24:47.61) and she was followed by
Luz Lopez Gonzalez in 69
th (24:48.23),
Verena Vesely in 71
st (24:54.46),
Kelsie Dent in 73
rd (25:07.50) and
Avery Hoffpauir in 75
th (25:11.39).
Nebraska-Kearney won the team title with 74 total points. Central Missouri finished second with 88 points and the Gorillas came in third with 95 points. Fourth place went to NW and Rogers State rounded out the top-five with 135 points.
