FORT WORTH, Texas – The Washburn women's cross country team posted another solid team performance on Saturday morning at the Old Glory Gallop, placing five runners in the top 60 en route to a seventh-place finish out of 40 teams.
Kyla Lochtefeld paced the Ichabods with a fifth-place finish in 17:35.56. Lexie Fontaine added another top-15 performance, crossing the line in 18:00.15 to place 12th overall.
Jolie Evans finished 50th in 18:47.45, just ahead of Riley Britton (52nd, 18:48.18) and Grace Collins (55th, 18:50.31) to round out Washburn's scoring five. Rylee Ismert (56th, 18:50.77) and Ebba Wetterberg (63rd, 19:01.50) also stayed close behind, helping tighten the Ichabods' overall spread to under 90 seconds between the top seven.
Jordyn Cleary (89th, 19:18.02) and Katy Menke (111th, 19:42.88) completed Washburn's lineup, giving the Ichabods nine runners under 20 minutes on the day.
The strong pack effort and Lochtefeld's front-running performance kept Washburn competitive among several Division I and nationally ranked Division II programs in attendance.
The Ichabods' 174 team points finished behind Simon Fraser (108), Midwestern State (116), Texas State (127), UT-Tyler (135), MSU-Denver (150) and Dallas Baptist (158).
Washburn will return to action at MIAA Championships later this month in Pittsburg, Kan.
