TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn women's basketball team are set to face Northeastern State for the second time in four days as the Ichabods travel to Tahlequah, Okla. to take on the RiverHawks in a makeup on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

LAST TIME AGAINST NORTHEASTERN STATE (Feb. 6, 2021)
TOPEKA, Kan. – The Ichabods shot 46.0 percent from the field and made 26-of-30 from the free throw line to defeat the Northeastern State RiverHawks on Saturday afternoon, 76-66.
Northeastern State scored the first basket of the game and led 4-3 before an old-fashioned three point play by Mackenzie Gamble gave Washburn a lead it would hold for the rest of the game. At the end of the opening quarter, the Ichabods led, 14-8.
Fouls proved costly for Northeastern State in the second quarter as Washburn made 11-of-12 from the free throw line en route to scoring 23 points overall in the frame. Washburn went into the break up by 10, 37-27.
A 12-2 run by the RiverHawks over the course of nearly four minutes in the third quarter cut the Washburn lead to two, 41-39. The Ichabods responded with an 8-2 run of their own to push the lead back up to eight. Hunter Bentley drained a jump shot at the buzzer to send Washburn into the fourth period up, 57-48.
Northeastern State got within five with 3:52 left in regulation, but couldn't get any closer. Washburn stayed consistent at the free throw line, making 9-of-10, and made its final six points of the game on freebies.
The Ichabods made 23-of-50 from the field for 46 percent while the RiverHawks made 25-of-60 for a 41.7 field goal percentage. Washburn made 4-of-14 from behind the three-point line while Northeastern State was just 2-for-16. The Ichabods made 12 more free throws than the RiverHawks and finished the afternoon 26-for-30. Washburn won the rebound battle, 35-27, and scored 16 points thanks to 13 offensive boards.
Bentley was 8-of-16 from the field and a perfect 9-for-9 at the charity stripe for a team-high 27 points to go with six rebounds. Off the bench, Lauren Cassaday scored a career-high 15 points making all five of her field goal attempts and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Barrientos recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 boards to go with three steals and two assists.
Three from Northeastern State finished in double-figures led by Cenia Hayes with 20 points. Shae Sanchez added 12 points and seven boards.
